Chapter 1

The Wolf and The Eagle

Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY or Destiny

The sun blazed in the sky, sending waves of heat to the surface of the desert planet known to most as Mercury. A warm wind blew across the mountains of sand, partially uncovering the mossy stone structures covering most of the area. The rest of the area that wasn't covered in sand held these same structures.

All was quiet, save for the occasional howl of wind through stone. Then, the light tread of two pairs of feet running across the sand could be heard.

The first person in question was armored head to toe in a wolf themed set of armour, and from the shape of the armour going over a small chest, it was easily said to be a woman. Her armour was elegant and regal, yet it still had a wild look to it. The armour plates were a deep red with streaks of violet running along them while the non-armour pieces of the suit were black. On the shoulders and the knees of the armour were the top halves of skulls that seemed to come from a dog like animal, and both the right ankle and the left arm had knife sheaths strapped to them, complete with blades. The helmet of the suit was the most significant looking however.

The helmet was in the shape of a wolf's head, it's expression blank and calculating. The colors matched the rest of the armour (red with violet streaks) and the eyes of the wolf were replaced with a black visor.

There was also a red cloak with a black wolf head in the center of it and several violet streaks running down it draped over her back, the hood of the cloak pulled back.

The woman was holding a large sixshooter looking gun as she ran. The gun was red with a brown leather wrapped handle and black steel plates adorning its body. There were also multiple, random scratches running across it.

There was another gun just like it holstered on her left leg.

Next, across her back, she had a large red rifle with purple highlights and a scope attached to the top with black colored steel plates. Just like the hand cannon, there were black, steel plates and multiple scratches running across the rifle.

Finally, sheathed on her waist was a thin short sword. It had a red leather wrapped handle while the rest of the blade was the color of obsidian. The sword radiated with a slight purple aura.

The other person running was also a woman, though she had a larger chest. She was also armoured head to toe, but with a different style of gear.

She had a lightly armoured set of robes that looked more royal than the set of armour her Hunter friend had. The robes were long, reaching the woman's ankles, and mainly golden yellow and black, the two edges of it connecting partially at the front, but still allowing view of the brown, light armour underneath. Black and white feathers lined the neck of the armour and there where talons on the shoulders. The rest of armour followed the same pattern save for the helmet.

The helmet of the Warlock was in the shape of an eagle's head, following the same color scheme as the rest of the armour (golden yellow and black). There were also feathers in the back of the helmet pointing up at an angle.

There was also a brown band on her arm that predicted the symbol of a black eagle above a yellow, translucent background.

In her hands, she held a slim, royal looking automatic rifle with a gold and black color scheme to it. There feathers pointing up from an angle near the front of the gun, and feathers were hanging from the barrel.

Next, holstered at her side was a simple gold and black themed sidearm. The pistol had a single claw on the back of the pullback.

Last, but by far not the least, was the large, slim machine gun she had slung onto her back. It had a gold and black color scheme, just like everything else, and feathers pointing up from near the front of the gun. Several feathers were also hanging from the barrel.

"'Just do this one favor for me.'" The Hunter said in a mock imitation of another woman's voice. "'There's no Vex on that side of Mercury' Ikora said." She continued before coming up to a stone block and sliding over it. She then pressed her back against the stone as the ground where she once stood was hit with a large blast of void energy, shaking the ground.

"Like hell there isn't!" She then exclaimed as she reloaded her hand cannon with blinding speed. "They ambushed us three miles back and I can't seem to shake them now! Why can't they be stupid like every other thing I've killed!"

The air in front of her then sparked and a small floating object with a glowing blue optic appeared in front of her. The object was made up of several red and black pyramids with purple highlights to match the woman's armour. The object also had several scratches running along it.

"Scar, what have I told you about calming down?" The object rotated the prisms on its optic as it spoke in a slightly deep male's voice.

"Yeah Scar, cool it." The Warlock said, sliding behind cover next to the now named Scar.

The Hunter looked out from her cover and shot at the Vex advancing on her position. All of the shots meet there mark as several humanoid robots instantly shattered into pieces. She then pulled a glowing orange grenade from her belt and threw it at a larger humanoid robot. The explosive stuck and detonated, sending the Minotaur and the Goblins surrounding it to oblivion.

"Jack, Emily, I do not need to calm down." Scar stated calmly as she reloaded. "And don't call me Scar!" She then exclaimed "It's Scarlet!"

"Aww," Emily whined playfully. "but you always let my dad call you that." She finished before looking out from their shared cover and unloading the magazine of her auto rifle into the crowd of Vex, clearing a good amount of them out before ducking back down and reloading.

"I didn't let him call me that! He just refused to stop, even after I killed him!" She exclaimed, firing more shots at the remaining Vex, clearing the rest out before reloading again.

"You killed him, right. Was that before or after the 20 times he managed to pick you off with nothing but his sidearm?" Jack asked with a hint of amusement.

"Ooooooo!" The Warlock said, cupping one of her hands around her mouth.

"Shut it." Scarlet growled before standing up with Emily from their cover and looking at the hud in her helmet. "My map says we're right where we need to be, so…" She looked around before throwing her arms into the air.

"Where is it!?"

"I'm getting strange readings from the slab of stone you used as cover." Jack said before floating up to said stone. "And I can't exactly hack into stone, so we'll need to find some sort of switch or-"

Scar aimed her hand cannon at the rock before unloading an entire magazine into in, breaking it into a million pieces. She then reloaded as Jack gave her a bored look.

"...Or you could just do that."

"It's not like it's a bad strategy." A new, male voice said. Jack merely glanced over to acknowledge Emily's Ghost, John.

He had the same shape as Jack, but is color scheme was more focused on his guardian. He was mostly gold with several black highlights, feathers attached to his prisms pointing in different directions and he had an electric blue optic.

"You're welcome." Scarlet said sarcastically as she holstered her weapon to her right side and bent down to examine the rubble she created.

She saw nothing significant, but she knew better than to just think that and dug through the shards of rock. At the bottom, she found a small, shining pyramid, seemingly made of crystal. The object glowed a slight gold when Scar grabbed it, but the glow quickly disappeared.

She stood up with the object in hand.

"That's it?" Scarlet asked in annoyance. "We came here for a useless crystal? Of all of the things I could have been doing, Ikora fucking Ray tells us to spend three days doing this!?" She the exclaimed in anger before throwing the crystal.

Emily simply caught it and put it into one of the pockets in her robes before it could hit the ground.

"You never know, it could be very important to stopping the Vex in the future." John pointed out.

"Or it could send us through an interdimensional portal, or it could even fry the electronics in my ship!" Scarlet offered with frustration. She then growled before unholstering her hand cannon. "I need to shoot something."

With those words, small dark clouds formed all around her and more Vex dropped down to face her. There were tons of the humanoid ones she fought earlier, Goblins, a few of the larger ones, Minotaurs, but there were also a few new ones.

There were humanoid Vex with long rifles; they were Hobgoblins. There was also floating Vex, similar to the look of the Jack, called Harpies. Finally, but definitely not least, was a very large Minotaur, towering at least three stories high, armed with an enormous blaster like the Minotaurs around it.

The Guardians' huds marked the towering Vex as 'Grimhelm, The Pyramid Seeker' making her smile.

"Careful what you wish for." Emily said as she cocked her rifle.

"Shit's about to go down." Scar stated simply as she drew her second hand cannon. Jack and John took that moment to retreat into their Guardians' helmets.

Grimhelm then roared in anger, and all hell broke loose.

The Goblins and Hobgoblins immediately opened fire on the Guardians, but the attacks were easily avoided by the wolf and the eagle as the first rolled out of the way and the latter zig-zagged her way to the group of Vex. Scar then maneuvered her way past more shots before she rolled towards a different group of robots.

She popped back to her feet and fired her first shot into a Hobgoblin's eye, wasting no time on doing the same to the rest in her immediate area. She then slammed then butt of her right hand cannon into a harpy, easily dispatching six others with her other.

She ducked under the sniper shot of a Hobgoblin located at the top of a sand dune. Scar then simply aimed her hand cannon in that direction and fired, satisfied at the shattering of metal she heard follow.

Several Minotaurs then sent large blasts of void energy at her while her back was turned, but she rolled out of the way just before they hit their mark, causing them to crash it other Vex. Scarlet holstered her hand cannons and brought out her rifle, quickly using it to dispatch the Minotaurs that fired at her by firing into the glowing white canisters in their chests.

Scarlet quickly reloaded the rifle before aiming it straight into the glowing white chest of Grimhelm, still making sure to keep track of the other Vex still in the area. The towering Vex fired three large blasts of void energy at her, but she jumped and brought her left hand to her chest.

As soon as her hand made contact, she disappeared in a flash of lightning and reappeared on the other side of the attack Grimhelm sent at her. Before the Vex could react, it was hit with several close ranged sniper shots to the chest, making it stumble and severely depleting its health.

Scarlet then switched from her rifle to her sword, holding it in one hand while she drew her left hand cannon in the other. She slashed at the machine with incredible force, taking more of its health, but it did not stumble letting it raise its blaster to strike the Guardian, easily having the strength to kill her.

Scar saw that easily and jumped out of the way, Grimhelm's strike crashing into the ground instead. The towering Vex roared in outrage and more Vex spawned into help it.

Meanwhile, Emily had already reached the first group of Vex they encountered and dispatched them with ease. She had covered Scarlet by killing more of the robots while the Hunter damaged their boss, but now that a new group had spawned, she decided to get a bit more aggressive. She put her auto rifle on her lower back and drew her sidearm before charging at a group of Vex.

Several Goblins and Hobgoblins tried to hit her with their rifles, but they were easily dodged. Emily then shot six of the group in the chest, immediately ending their lives. She rolled under a sniper shot and popped up to her feet right in front of the offending Hobgoblin.

Thrusting her hand out, she sent a wave of arc energy at the robot before it could even react. She then emptied the rest of her magazine on the remaining Goblins and Hobgoblins, thinning the group of all except an Axis Minotaur.

She quickly slammed a new load into her sidearm before holstering it, pulling out her machine gun and charging the Minotaur. She unloaded half of the magazine into its chest before the Vex sent a blast of void energy at her. She ran and slid under it, popping to her feet afterwords and kicking the Minotaur in the chest, causing it to stumble, and shot more rounds at it.

The robot quickly recovered though and tried to hit her with a melee attack. Emily simply jumped and let the Minotaur hit the ground under her. She then landed on the robot's arm and ran up it, firing rounds into its face before teleporting behind it in a flash of arc energy, switching to her sidearm and firing a single shot behind her.

She was satisfied with explosion behind her and rejoined the fray, destroying more Vex with extreme aggression.

Scarlet sheathed her sword and unholstered her other hand cannon before quickly using it to dispatch the Goblins around the guardian before they swarmed her. A goblin somehow got close enough to strike her though and she was forced to duck to avoid it.

She then brought her hand to her chest again, causing her to blink out of the area. Turning back to the Vex, she quickly holstered her weapons and let a pole appear in her hands. It only took a moment before the Vex knew what was going to happen, making them attack harder.

But they found themselves acting too late as Scarlet's body and pole sparked to life, filling the area with the smell of ozone.

The guardian disappeared in a flash and tore through the Vex Goblins that had surrounded her not even minutes ago. She then moved her focus to Grimhelm and she dashed at the towering machine, hitting it from every possible angle and depleting what remained of its health in the process.

Grimhelm remained standing though and started to glow with solar energy. Scarlet felt the area start to get hotter, even with her armour on. She was about to move to retaliate, but she was then pinned by a solar energy field, her arc pole disappearing as well. Her health was ticking down faster and faster.

Scarlet then smiled when she heard a sword being unsheathed. She watched as waves of solar energy hit Grimhelm, and after a moment, the towering Vex finally stopped along with the field that pinned her.

Grimhelm fell to its knees with a mighty roar before exploding into dust and scraps, the two Guardians moving out of the way so they didn't get hit by shrapnel.

Any of the remaining Vex falling to pieces around her now that their boss was destroyed. Scar then gave a content sigh.

"That's better." She stated with a smile.

"Tell me about it." Emily said, walking up next to her and letting the flaming sword in her hand disappear.

'I've said this once and I'll say it again: You have a problem.' Jack said from within Scar's head.

'I do not.' The Scarlet Guardian denied with a wave of her hand. 'Now, get us off this wasteland of a planet if you don't mind. I've got sand everywhere.' She finished as she shook her armour.

'Way ahead of ya.' Her Ghost replied before she heard the familiar sound of her ship's engine.

She looked behind her to see a large red and black jumpship, custom made for her years before. It had scratches, but she loved it.

Scar and Emily ran towards it before they disappeared in a cloud of blue particles. As soon as they disappeared, the ship turned around and speed out of the planet's atmosphere.

(Milky Way - Space Between Mercury and Earth)

Scarlet sat in the pilot's chair of the ship as they flew through hyperspace. Her helmet was off and sitting on the console as she leaned back, revealing her face.

She had yellow eyes that seemed to crackle like an ember in a flame and long, blood red hair to enforce on that fact. She also had a long scar over her right eye, hence the nickname 'Scar'.

Scar then started spinning slowly in her chair, growing bored of sitting around.

"You three have any luck?" The Wolf asked Emily and the two Ghosts who were at a nearby table in the cockpit of the ship. Jack turned to Scarlet's spinning form and gave her a blank look.

"Maybe we might have something if you would stop lying around."

"Ah, don't bother Jack." Emily said with a wave of her free hand as she inspected the prism. "She would probably just break it anyway." She then added jokingly getting a growl from Scar.

"She's not wrong." John mentioned getting Scarlet to deflated with a pout.

"Yeah, she's not." The Wolf said reluctantly before sitting up. "Have you found anything though?"

"It's seems to be some sort of puzzle." The Eagle answered, looking at it critically with the special optics that she built into her helmet.

"I can't make heads or tails of it, and neither can our Ghosts." She then continued, looking towards Scar. "My dad would have knowledge of this stuff though."

"Yeah, but he died permanently killing Aksis, remember?" The Wolf said, annoyed.

"Of course I remember." The Eagle responded quietly. "I just don't like thinking about that raid."

"... I'm sorry." Scar said quietly after a moment, shifting her attitude.

"Scarlet," Jack suddenly piped up from the console, making said Guardian turn towards him. "We're out of hyperspace." He continued.

"Already?" Scarlet questioned, looking out the front glass. "Either Amanda gave my ship an upgrade I didn't know about or the drive's busted again."

"I'd say the latter." Emily said, walking up to the console with John over her shoulder, leaving the prism alone on the table. "I don't see Earth."

"Crap." The Wolf cursed before looking over the console. "Jack, where are we?"

"We seem to be nearing Venus." He said hovering over the console. "Haven't been here in a while, haven't we." He then joked.

"I'd rather avoid more Vex if we could, thank you." John responded with Emily nodding in agreement.

Unbeknownst to all of them, the prism they collected was starting to to glow a slight gold and was rapidly getting brighter, vibrating as it did so.

"Run a system diagnostic Jack, find out what's wrong with the warp drive." Scarlet said getting a nod (or I guess a bob in the air) from the Ghost. He was silent for a second.

"There's… nothing wrong with anything on the ship." He said with a questioning tone. "There's no reason we should have stopped."

The Wolf sighed in frustration and pulled her hair.

"Great, just great." She said. John then noticed a faint glow reflecting of the console and turned to see what it was.

The prism they had collected had stopped getting brighter and was instead starting to levitate off of the table, splitting into pieces as it did.

"Uh, guys." John spoke up getting everyone's attention, which was then drawn over to the prism.

"Holy…" Scarlet started before Emily walked up to it.

"I get it now." The Eagle said, approaching the object. "The puzzle was already solved, it just needed a trigger."

"Em, I would suggest stepping back from the glowing mystery object." Scar warned wearily, only to get waved off.

"It's fine." Emily said, turning to the group. "What could this thing do to us that we haven't already been through, right?" She questioned, gesturing to the floating prism beside her.

As if taking it as a challenge, the prism responded.

The object collapsed in on itself before exploding outwards, sending a hundred separate pyramid shaped projectiles towards the group. It happened so quickly that none of them could react in time.

Scar watched as Emily was knocked off of her feet when over 50 of the projectiles slammed into her and pierced her armor, making her scream out in pain before slamming into the ground and going silent, knocked out cold.

The Wolf was hit with about 25 of the projectiles less than a second after causing her to grunt in pain and fall on to the console, sliding on to the floor afterwards. The two ghosts were both only hit with one each, but it managed to send them to the ground effortlessly, John going down with a scream that sounded suspiciously like the scream of a certain droid from Star Wars.

Scar was left to watch as all the remaining projectiles slammed into the console and everything else important in the room. She then heard the ship's drive power up as sparks flew from electronics in the room.

The Wolf attempted to get up, using what remained of the console to pull herself up only to get knocked off of her feet by an explosion that rocked the entire ship. Her head slammed into the console and she hit the ground again.

The last thing she saw before she past out was her helmet and Ghost sliding up to her due to the explosion.
