Tivan sighed, reading his book.
I was in the kitchen, cooking our dinner. Tivan liked Thai food for this evening, Bangkok was one of his favorite cities on Earth.
A second sigh from his lungs raised my eyebrow.
"What's wrong, Taneleer?"
"This universe is fucked, my dear." His response was cold and uncaring.
"Why?"
A split second of my attention being drawn from the stove cost me a fire. The Thai meal I was preparing caught ablaze. "Taneleer, get out!"
Tivan jumped up from his seat and grabbed the bucket of water I used to clean. He doused the flames as soon as he reached the stove.
There was a thick cloud of heavy smoke from the fire being put out.
Tivan sat the bucket down, coughing.
He turned to face me angrily. "Cherrykit."
"It was an accident." I said defensively.
"You are my wife. Do you not know how to do things? Are you a fool?" Tivan mocked.
"I'm leaving."
"No you are not." He quipped. "Sit down!"
But I didn't. I kept walking to my room.
Tivan realized he was being too harsh with me.
He sighed. "Cherry-"
"I'll send you our divorce papers. Yondu Udonta cares about me."
