AN: 12:28AM, July 30th, 2018. Ok, now I know how those guys who can never stick to one story feel . . . fables and dis lexic, I',m looking at you. No wait, DFF hasn't been herd from in years . . . darn-it, need a new example . . .

Either way, this is something that has been bouncing around my head for a while now. Mainly as a way to get myself re-invested in Hunting For Something Better, by displaying my SI as a servant in one of my favourite franchises. Well, lets see if it works.

POV: Russet Roulette

Reality pulsed and shifted. Space trembled and shattered. The world as we know it danced to a terrible tempo. There was a ring of blue light, a a pulse, a surge, and a scream.

I emerged from the smoke, feeling utterly different and yet totally the same. I was standing in a circle, full of arcane symbols, carved into the stone floor of what I could see was a cave. I snoorted out loud. "Really? A holy grain war? And here I thought that I had the Fate references settled when I ran into Shirou."

"I'm . . . sorry? I don't understand what that's supposed to mean." A cool, calm, regale female voice spoke behind me. "Did you not desire to be summoned? If so, I'm quite sorry for the inconvenience. However, I have need of your services, and I will use a command seal if necessary."

Turning to face the source of the voice, I came face to face with an albino woman in a white and red dress and a hat that appeared to be a cross between a crown and the pope's hat.

"My master, I assume?" I asked with a bemused look on my face.

"In a sense." She responded. "My name is Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern. That alone should tell you of my identity." to emphasize her statement, her form flickered like a hologram.

My face fell blank and I blinked twice, my mind catching up with what she had just said, before my expression shifted to that of curiosity. "I assume, seeing as I have been summoned by the core of the grail itse . . . sorry, herself, then something . . . unforeseen has taken place?"

The spirit of the grail nodded gravely. "Yes. During the last war, Jubstacheit, the current von Einzbern head, attempted to summon a servant from the avenger class, hoping that the lower level of restrictions on this class, which is what caused it to be scraped in the first place, would allow for a more powerful servant to be summoned. Unfortunately for him, he got the worst possible servant."

"I assume the servant in question is the reason that I was summoned?" I asked, sitting cross legged on the ground. I was all ready aware of the situation, but better not show it, just in case. Better to be cautious, and besides, I could be completely wrong.

"Yes, I'm sure that you've been informed of this worlds history by the grail, so I'll just tell you. The servant was Angra Mainyu."

"The evil god?"

"Yes. Unfortunately, his nature as a servant who ascended to the thrown as an incarnation of a wish and his noble phantasm being taint-based, allowed him to partially fuse to the grail, making him my room-mate for the past few decades."

"My condolences."

"Thank you. Were was I?"

"Room mate."

"Oh yes. I've been stuck with him for the past few decades, trying to think of a way to get rid of him. I'm just lucky my position as the lynch pin holding the grail together means he cant corrupt me, put that didn't mean I could actually do anything as he engraved his own desire into the grail. In the end, I was forced to try and a servant that could act for me. But, Angra blocked me from summoning any standard servants, forcing me to take drastic measures."

"You see, there is a . . . block, in the system for the holy grail, that prevents the summoning of servants from alternate time-lines. This was to prevent the summoning of servants that we, in this time-line, had no knowledge of."

"So, you undid the block, allowing me to be summoned despite the fact that I'm from, what is practically a different earth entirely, with a completely different form of magic, evolution, ect? That definitely explains why nothing matches up with my memory. So, what do you need me to do?"

POV: Anonymous

The holy grail war, while not a well known ritual, was still readily available information to anyone who looked for it. The masters of the war were, more often than not, already skilled mages who would already know of the wars existence, even if they never expected to participate.

However, this year, any who received command seals was in for a surprise. Upon the appearance of the command spells, nothing would seem amiss, however, once every half hour, the area affected by the spell would itch, and light up for a time, until the possessor examined the seal. Upon examination, they would be drawn into a rather detailed illusion.

The illusion, was thus. A large cave, with a large golden cup set upon a pedestal. The cup was large, and made of what appeared to be gold. It was covered in archaic symbols, and overall radiated power. However, marring the beauty of the cup, was a thick, black, bubbling liquid dripped from the brim of the golden container.

"Hello." The image shifted from the grail to a man standing in the middle of the cave. The man wore what appeared to be a modern hoodie at first glance, but upon closer inspection was revealed to be made of black leather, with white fur still visible on the inside. The hoodie was held shut with a number of buckles, with belts holding knives across the front. He wore nondescript pants, and leather boots that seemed to be made for maximum flexibility. Around his neck, he wore a silver crucifix.

"I, am servant ruler, of the fourth holy grail war." He spoke with a slight smile, his eyes half lidded, as if he was half asleep. "Those of you who are familiar with the grail system may recognize me as a servant that is only summoned during circumstances were the holy grail war itself is in jeopardy."

"Now, I'm sure your wondering as to why I have chosen to contact you. This curiosity is quite reasonable, and thus, I will answer you. The grail is damaged."

"Now, this may come as a shock to some of you. The grail is supposedly an omnipotent wish granting device. How can if be damaged? Well, the answer to that, is that someone tried to cheat. During the third war, the Einzbern attempted to summon a forbidden servant, that being the avenger class, a class of servant that was original scraped during the construction of the grail, out of hope that it would be strong enough to easily win the war. This hope, however, was naught, as avenger was abnormal weak."

"Of course, it wasn't actually weak, it was after all, a god of evil. Angra manyuu, to be exact, and his power lay not in his ability to fight, but his power to taint. Catching on yet? Yes, that black sludge behind me is avenger's post death farewell gift. Now, any wish granted will come out the way he would have wanted it, with a side affect of him coming back to life with his full power from the age of gods. And unless your a bonified psychopath, then you probably don't want that."

"Thus, the grail, more specifically the lingering consciousness of lady Justeaze, summoned me to help her exorcise said god of evil, which, even between my skill and her power, will take a considerable amount of time."

"Luckily, I believe that we can get him out before the start of the war. Unfortunately, in order to summon me in the first place, Justeaze had to activate the reserve system and break one of the restrictions of the grail. More specifically, the one preventing the summoning of spirits from different time lines. Which of course it has the ability for, Zetretch's students built the damn thing!" the servant coughed into his fist. "Sorry if I'm coming off as flippant, I've been getting into convoluted situations for such a long time that I tend to react with exasperation. Now, were was I?"

"Oh yes, the broken restrictions and such. Hmm, as I was saying, the reserve system was activated, and the restrictions upon the summoning of servants from other time-lines was removed, as avenger was preventing Justeaze from interfering normally. What this means is that fourteen servants will be summoned, not counting myself, seven of which will be from an alternate timeline, or world entirely."

"Seeing as your most likely all rather experienced magus's, I will save the explanation on the consequences for this, but understand that the grail war will not change beyond what I have already explained. There is simply fourteen servants now, and an extra servant who will enforce the rules and ensure everything goes smoothly."

"That said, I would like to inform you that your command seals now also work as a communication method between you, and myself, thus allowing you to ask any questions you have on the spot, without needing to reveal yourself to other masters. However, I do ask that you keep your questions to a minimum," a black tentacle emerged from the grail and swung itself at Ruler, only for him to blast it with a golden light from his palm. "I don't need any distractions when the god of evil is trying to consume my mortal soul . . . " the illusion ended with the servant giving the grail the stink eye.

AN: 10:55 PM August 8th, 2018. Ok, over a week for less than a thousand words is pathetic. My record is over 2 thousand a day! But I do have an excuse. Crunchyroll wouldn't load. That may not sould like much, but I do most of my writing while also watching anime, so I didn't get much done. I never said It was a good excuse.

On a side note, this has gotten me thinking Hunter X Hunter again, so that's a plus, now I have to get to the point of developing my SI's hatsu so I can use them here . . . well, until next week. I hope next week, anyway.
