The Death of a Champion

Disclaimer - I own nothing. It all belongs to her majesty, JK Rowling.

'Twas a starry night at Hogwarts
When I said goodbye to Cho.
She wished me good luck, and with one last wave
I entered the maze below.

I was terrified of that last task,
For I knew not what was to come.
But to honour my school I stood straight and brave
Alongside Potter, Fleur and Krum.

I met many monsters that night
in the silence of the maze.
How could I have known, as I puzzled and charmed
That this was the last of my days?

A few hours into the task
My path crossed with Viktor Krum.
I heard him cry "crucio," my brain froze at the word.
Soon after my body went numb.

The pain suddenly stopped
As Krum gasped and fell to the ground.
I gathered my wits, looked up and saw
it was Potter by whom I'd been found.

The two of us formed an alliance
So one of us would win.
We made our way through the rest of the maze,
And then saw the cup of tin.

We grabbed the cup at the same moment,
Then both hit the ground very hard.
I got back on my feet and then realized
We were in a large graveyard.

I saw the deatheaters gathered around us.
I could scarce draw one last breath
As Voldemort said that fatal spell
That brought me to my death.

My last wish, that you should remember me
And do only what is right.
May you never doubt kindness, bravery, love,
And stay on the path of light.
