Nature has a way of balancing out the cycle of love.
Men and women were created in order to love one another.
And the only love two men are supposed to share.
Is when they treat the other like a brother.
I do not dispute this well-known fact,
But I am worried about just one thing.
For the love I thought was once of a brother.
Has grown into more. Gan Ning.
I do not know when this love began to change.
When I began to see you in a different light.
But I do know that I did not realize the love I felt,
Not at all, until the battle this past night.
When I saw you on the battlefield,
With your brown hair wafting in the breeze,
My heart rose up into me throat.
I began to feel weak in the knees.
With a mixture of angel and devil you swept the battlefield,
Your normally sweet smile replaced by a scowl.
It never ceases to amaze and terrify me,
To see how quickly your laughter can turn into a growl.
I was so enraptured in deep contemplation of you,
And marveling at how you killed your foes,
That my own eyes were made blind for a moment,
And I did not see the archers raise their bows.
What happened next seemed a whirlwind in time,
I know that you pushed me out of harms way,
And, because we were at the top of a hill, we began to tumble down,
Growing farther and farther from the fray.
When we landed it was with you on top of my body,
With your hands squeezing my shoulders so tight,
I will never forget the way your voice sounded,
When you asked, "Lu Xun. are you alright?"
I found myself drowning in your crimson eyes,
They remind me of shining rubies or pools of blood,
I opened my mouth, but no sound came out.
All I felt was my heart's demanding thud.
It felt like we sat there for an eternity,
In that position which screamed for a kiss,
But something in me told me to wait,
"You can't take it. not like this."
You took my silence and my blush to be good signs,
And you rose to your feet to leave me alone,
I was glad when you left; I had begun to tremble,
And every time I thought of you, the tremors had only grown.
Though I know it may be wrong to do this,
I can no longer hide the way I feel,
I love you, for all your pirating ways,
And my heart carries your seal.
You may come to despise me for this,
You may even love another,
But, I thought that you needed to know,
That I loved you more than as a brother.
