Omaha Beach
the waves crashed against the mighty steel of the 108 tank boats. We glided through the water as if we were fishes ourselves in the vast endless world of the ocean. As we advanced I saw the great cliff...Its menacing bunkers of German troops staring down at us.
"30 Seconds YANKS pull the chain and get ready!" yelled the Sergeant.
I slung my gun over my shoulder and held it close. No way was I about to die here. As we got closer to the island I heard screams and explosions already taking place. Then the wheel started spinning signaling our departure into the battle.
"CHARGE!" yelled Sgt. Randall.
"Get those explosives to the barb!" cried a soldier.
Explosions and gun fire was heard in every direction, I couldn't tell where I was suppose to go. Suddenly a grenade landed in the boat behind me and went off. My body seemed to fly as I somersaulted right on my back.
"TAYLOR GET UP!" yelled Randall running towards me.
As he dragged me over to cover I saw bodies fly and drop to the ground. The once blue peaceful ocean now a dark tainted red.
"Hey sarg maybe Taylor needs to meet those donkeys up there he should have some experience always fallin on his ass"
"Enough of that! A'ight we need to get inland and find those 88's, throw the rope and move up the cliff!"
As I got up I saw my squad climbing the rope. I climbed behind then not wanting to look like a fool again. As I climbed up I regrouped with Braeburn and McGregor.
"SARG! THE GUNS AREN'T HERE!"
"What do you mean!"
"THE GUNS AREN'T HERE!"
"Dang...Those jerry basstuds musta moved them before hand...Alright move across the minefield we need to take out those guns!"
As we advanced for the town of Normandy I knew this was the end.

Normandy
Once inside the town of Normandy I was ordered to take command of a small squad that we found wandering aimlessly looking for the guns as well. As me and my squad trudged over grassland and marshes we finally came across the 88's. I pulled out Thermites and gave them to some privates.
"Stick these on those guns and regroup at the rally mark"
"YES SIR"
As I left them to their duty I saw enemy Paratroopers fly over head. Once the Thermites were planted we rushed for cover. Suddenly the Paratrooper started dropping bombs and we had to stay indoors. I radioed for air support knowing it wouldn't be long before the enemy Paratroopers found the other squads.
"Eco Code 10-1-8 I need air support now! Heavy artillery fire and it won't be long before da kraunts own our dead bodies and use them for whatever the hell they do!"
"10-4 heard ya loud and clear...Sending air support now!"
All me and my squad could do was wait and pray as the enemy bombs continued to drop. After some time our planes came in and took out the Paratroopers allowing us to rush back to the rally mark. When we got there it wasn't a pretty sight.
"Sir...Their all..."
"Yes Private I know...Their Dead"
"How could this have happened?"
"Obviously the kraunts ambushed us while we were away and the rest of the squad was too overrunned"
"DAMMIT!"
We then decided to set up camp. We made trenches and foxholes and used as much equipment we could find. Tonight was going to be rough...Especially when you have panzer tanks heading in your direction.
New Years Eve (2008-2009)
Iraq
I finished reading my story of D-Day for the night. I turned off my light and set my glasses down on my desk. I turned and headed for my bed and snuggled deep in the covers. I'll never forget the brave men who fought for our country...
"And I plan to be one of them..." I whisper to myself...
I then fall asleep and wait for the battle soon to come in the morning.
Dedicated to all the brave women and men who fought for this country both D-day and Iraq
