A moment of remembrance

The man walked slowly. He was headed to the room that the two mad people were kept in. Never let out only kept in to sit, scream, and cry from the memories. As Neville Longbottom walked to his parents' room his father was screaming and his mother was crying. He nodded to the nurse and said he would like some time alone. He sat in a chair at the foot of his father's bed, and began talking. His father had stopped screaming and had begun crying with his mother.

"Mum Dad it's done she's dead. It all ended at Hogwarts." he paused a sad smile frozen for a moment. Then he continued "It wasn't me. I didn't kill any one, well unless you count a snake," he took a breath not sure how to continue, "Gran said you would be proud of me, but, honestly, I'm not sure I'm proud of me. Plus you probably can't remember me enough to be proud." He looked at his parents both were now wearing blank expressions. His mother was muttering something he couldn't understand. "I don't know why what I did helped. Killing the snake I mean but it seemed to make a difference. They all followed my lead, my lead. Then again we thought Harry was dead." He looked at his dad then he turned his eye to his mother she was staring at him wide eyed. "I'm proud of you. Both of you. You didn't give in. I'm proud to be your son. I hope you're proud I am."

He lowered his head.

"Frank, Frank look at our boy."

"Mum?"

"Yes Alice he's walking all on his own now."

"Yes, yes our little Neville all big and strong. Come here you little rascal come to mummy."

They were remembering. Remembering from when Neville was still a baby.

"I'm so proud of him Alice he's so young and has done so much."

"I'm proud to honey I'm proud to" She reached across the mall space between their beds and took her husband's hand. Then she started screaming and he started yelling "NO NO leave him alone! Leave him ALONE!"

Neville walked out of his parents room smiling. He heard a nurse mumble to another "I don't understand why he comes. They won't get better."

His smile widened maybe they wouldn't but they would always have that, that one single moment. A moment of remembrance.
