Still haven't read "Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale", but I'm still obsessed with Papa and Mama Herondale. Poor babies - all three children gone in a span of five years.

Disclaimer: Cassandra Clare owns TID.

"Nothing but Open Doors"

The doors are always open.

Arguments break hinges or perhaps fingers narrowly miss the frame

Should Cecily throw a tantrum, Ella, a sliver of light, shines in the darkened room, Will already curled on his sister's bed and all is forgiven.

As jeweled hair clasps replace pigtails and Will's shirt sleeves travel up his arms

Edmund and Linette are gradually locked out.

Innate curiosity almost killed their Will, her Gwilym

Too late - two babies lost, one after the other

Dare to even think of too early and

The silence -

Oh, the silence would kill him once again.

Linette's tears only stop half past two; she refuses to let him dry them.

He never would forgive himself; the bottles he greedily drained never gave a damn.

Ella. William.

To hold them close just one more time

Breath in the fights and flights caught in their hair, to bring them back to Linette,

For her broken heart and his sanity,

How he begged for it every time he thought of them.

Prayers to gods and angels unanswered; they must hate him.

He hates them in return when the house is lost with a failed bet.

Cecily fled to London

– "to bring Will home", she wrote to console them. He howled louder.

Three empty beds, two emptier hearts

How could she?

Vanishing with the night before her shadow could tell of her flight

Their cariad was beautiful, spirited

Braver than they could imagine -

How could they be left behind once again?

We wed. We raised three children. We are trapped.

- Linette. Love of his life -

The marriage. The children were theirs. The doors are closed.

Open the doors! She screamed.

Hard unforgiving accusing, blue eyes, shattered desperate yearning

He falls into her arms.

Holding her close, breathing in her strength imbued with hope

No prayers, no condolences.

Only open doors

Has anyone read the manga of TID? I highly recommend it. The drawing style is beautiful. Edmund, Linette, and Ella make appearances as do Jonah and Wen Yu Carstairs - it's a minor character-lover's dream come true!

Please leave a review/your thoughts. :)
