"Onee-sama no Kaede doesn't own Ann from Harvest Moon or Malik from Yuugiou. She does own Snowball, though." Says Malik, being held captive by Onee-sama.

Onee-sama no Kaede is happy. "WHEE! My first Yuugiou/Harvest Moon crossover!" she exclaims. "Enjoy the story! It's a short story, one-shot."

Malik was speeding down the highway of Domino City when a small white kitten jumped into his path. He screeched to a stop, just centimeters from it. While he was getting off his motorcycle, a little girl ran up. She picked up the kitty and looked at Malik, her blue eyes smiling.

"Thank you for not hitting my kitty, sir." She said. "Snowball means the world to me. Ever since my mommy an' daddy died, Snowball's been my only comfort."

Malik felt his heart go out to this little girl. He knelt down and petted the kitten behind the ears.

"I understand where you're coming from. Both of my parents are dead as well…what's your name, little girl?" he asked.

"My name is Ann." She replied. Ann held out her hand. "Wanna be friends?" she asked, smiling cutely. Malik was trying hard NOT to smile, but failed. He smiled gently, and took her hand.

"Sure." He replied.

"…Do you think you could help me find my way to the airport? I have to catch a plane to, to…" she tried to read the name of the town. "Mineral Town."

"If you're catching a plane, where's all your luggage?" Malik inquired.

"I don't have much, just my kitty." Ann replied. "I think I should hurry."

"Okay." Malik thought briefly of using his motorcycle as transportation, but decided against it since he had only one helmet, and Ann had a cat. "The airport's just a few blocks away. We'll be there in no time." He assured her.

After picking their way through noon traffic, they came to the Domino City airport.

"Now I need to find gate 11." Ann said, reading it off of her ticket.

"…This way." Malik found her gate for her. Surprising him, Ann hugged him.

"I'm going to miss you." She said. "I've never had a friend before. Here's my uncle's address. Will you write me sometime? I'll be lonely there." She handed him a slip of paper with her fourth grade handwriting on it.

"I promise I'll write you at least once a week." Malik said, letting a smile grace his features once more.

Ann turned to go, but stopped. "…If you don't mind me asking, what's your name, sir?" she asked, blinking cutely. "I forgot to ask before."

"Malik. Malik Ishtar." He said.

"My full name's Ann Green." She said, giggling. She turned and jogged for her plane. "Bye, Malik!" she called, waving, from the entrance to the walkway that led to the plane.

"Bye, Ann!" he waved back.

…Going home that day, he realized that today was the first day since he'd left his home in Egypt that he'd actually met a new friend. Granted, she WAS younger than him, but he felt he'd learned something from her. Ann taught him that there was still pure innocence in the world that was untainted by evil. He decided that he'd keep that promise.

"See, Malik isn't so evil, mean, and cruel after all!" Onee-sama winks. "Review, please!"
