The group couldn't believe one of the guys that just joined the Survey Corps. The guy was bragging about how he just knew that he was going to be invited to join the squad of Lance Corporal Levi Rivaille.
Armin and Mikasa watched as Levi dismounted and walked over to the recruit. Eren rode up and asked what was going on. They just told him to be quite and watch.
"How the hell do you know that Lance Corporal Rivaille?" Levi asked the younger man.
"I don't. Yet," he replied.
"Then why the hell do you think that he will want to ask you to join his squad?"
"My reputation. I was the top in my group to graduate!" he answered, proudly puffing out his chest.
"And just who the fuck are you?" Levi asked, arms crossed across his chest, and a bored look on his face.
Before the younger man could give his name, a seven meter class titan attacked their camp.
The recruit looked to Levi, "Sorry, I would love to continue this talk, but I have bigger fish to fry!" then he ran off towards the enemy.
The recruit was barely halfway to where the titan was, when he had to dodge sideways to avoid it as it fell forward.
After the head landed, Levi landed lightly on his feet, in front of it.
"If you were the top of your troop, then we are in trouble. Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear is the FASTEST and SAFEST way to approach a titan."
Jean rode up next to Levi, leading the older man's horse. "Hey Eren! Looks like they found someone who has a bigger death wish than you do!" he called to his comrade.
Levi mounted his horse, "Mikasa! Get his name! When his 'reputation' catches up, I want to be able to put this dumbass' face with the name!" Then he turned his horse away from everyone, calling to his squad, "You have five minutes, then be ready to move out!"
The recruit was fuming. "Who does that pipsqueak think he is?!"
"That would be Lance Corporal Levi Rivaille," Armin answered.
Before they all rode off to follow their commander, Eren added, "I wouldn't be holding my breath for that invite to join his squad!"
"Yeah," Jean said, only loud enough for his teammates to hear him, "Eren is already filling the position as this squad's 'Dumbass'!"
"Hey!" Eren said, as the others laughed, good naturedly, as they all rode off to catch up with Levi.
