Okay, so this is technically my first D&D Fanfiction. The story follows Arienae, a human bard and her quest for freedom. This is only the first book that I'm working on and I will try to get as much up as fast as possible, but please R&R if you like it. I can take your comments.
Prologue: Escape
The darkness was overwhelming in the windowless room, the candles had burned all the way down earlier and had gone out in their own melted wax. Arienae knew that the night would be calm and without the light of the moon she wouldn't be easily followed, not that she intended to be. She had planned this escape for quite some time and nothing was going to stand in her way. She pulled the drawstring on her money pouch, concealing a handful of gold coins before tying it on the inside of a loose cloak. Then a small pouch of bread and a full water skin found their way to the belt wrapped around her hips. She sighed in the darkness as her fingertips found her one treasure in exactly the place it never left. She pulled the silver flute out from under her bed and wrapped it in it's shoulder carrying case. She had finished packing and all that was left was leaving.
She slipped easily out of the house, taking care to not step on the few loose floorboards and not leave any footprints on the path. Soon she was free of the house she had come to loathe and the people she had began to hate; but in a few more hours soon she would even be free of the city. Although she did expect that she would be chased down, a few hours head start in any direction would be better than to just sit down at the shipyard and wait. This time she would truly be free, and she would never answer to anyone like that ever again.
Arienae made it to the edge of the forest on the opposite side of the villiage before the sun even began it's ascent across the sky, but the triumphant announcement had already begun. The sky blossomed with hues of gold and purple, this was a grand exunt for a girl; and a sure sign of luck. She turned eastward, towards the sea and the sun, one final salute, a greeting and a farewell. If it was within her power she would never see this villiage ever again.
