Airwolf is somebody else's, probably Universal's or Bellisarius', and I freely admit that whoever's it is, I'm borrowing their show and they retain all rights, etc. This story does have flashbacks to second season episodes, 'Sweet Britches' and 'The Truth about Holly'; in both cases all rights, etc are retained by whoever owns them…and I hope I've remained as faithful to the original dialogue as possible allowing for a little artistic license.

WARNING: From the reviews I've had on The Jade Wolf (and thank you because I do read and appreciate them) I'm going to go out on a limb and say some people may find the ending unexpected (no more hints I promise!). All I'm going to say is keep the faith and read the next story, Old Friends, New Enemies.

This is the third instalment, if you have read the other two, (Single Parent Hawke and The Jade Wolf), you can skip straight to the story in the next chapter…or read this brief recap of the story so far…Stringfellow Hawke has said farewell to Le, the boy he incorrectly believed to be his nephew. Le is now living in Seattle with his newly found mother, Ana and her late husband's family. Hawke admits to himself that he struggled as a single parent and that he couldn't have managed without the help of his friends, Dominic Santini and particularly, Caitlin O'Shaunessy. When Caitlin comforts him about Le, Hawke almost gives into his attraction for her but believing that to do so would ruin their friendship, he quickly tries to re-establish their old boundaries. His sudden withdrawal sends Caitlin to Texas to do some soul-searching as she realises that her long-buried hope for a relationship with Hawke has resurfaced.

In Texas, she determines to be content as his friend but after the news her younger sister is engaged and a discussion with her older sister over her motivations for moving to LA, Caitlin starts to question whether she has the life she wants. When she returns to LA, she admits to Hawke that she's thinking about leaving. Hawke desperately wants her to stay but is fearful that admitting his feelings may lead to yet another tragedy in his life. Before anything more can be said, the Airwolf team are given another mission; protecting an exhibition of ancient jade figurines from a terrorist group.

The artefacts have been discovered by John Castle and his security advisor, Jackson Shaw, an ex-FIRM agent who Hawke used to work with. Jack is quick to make his interest in Caitlin known, an interest she seems to return. Caitlin, though, has actually worked out that they are planning an insurance fraud having only actually discovered one genuine artefact, a jade wolf. The Airwolf team along with the FIRM sets up a sting operation. Forced to blow up Jack's chopper, an unusual explosion causes the Airwolf systems to go haywire and the team fight to regain control of the helicopter as she spirals to the ground. Suddenly, at the very last moment, her systems respond and Hawke manages to land her. They are all shaken by the experience and whilst Dom checks out Airwolf, Hawke patching up an injured Caitlin lets slip his attraction for her. An oblivious Dom interrupts the moment and Hawke agrees that they should head home.

And now the next instalment: The Truth about Caitlin.
