Prologue
The weather is nice and peaceful, a cool gentle breeze signifying that winter is drawing close blew past, ruffling some trench coats and jackets along the way.
Kyoto's morning streets were just starting to get busy, a few vehicles drove by, releasing exhaust fumes into the city air. People are starting to appear, majority are rushing for work. Traffic lights blinked as it counted down, cars on standby as they waited, some impatiently, for the light to change. Amidst all these, a certain one quarter yōkai, mingled expertly amongst these unsuspecting humans.
The young Nurarihyon, heir to the infamous Nura clan, had been pretty stressed out lately with the fact that a very formidable Ayakashi had just been revived and had the intention to plunge humanity and Ayakashi alike into oblivion. Bandages were found everywhere on him, the head, the arms, those strips of cloth practically covered his entire being. Some worry wart had went overboard with the bandages... again. Luckily no one seemed to be paying too much attention to him.
"Have you heard?" A voice snapped the boy from his musings. "Rumor has it that a yōkai lives in a forest that is not far from here. Some says that she looked like a walking victorian doll," a girl said in a hushed tone, as if uttering some unspoken secret.
"Yeah, I've heard about it! Have you heard of the story about old man Kunio?" Another girl gossiped and seeing her friend shook her heard in negative, she continued. "Fifty years ago, old man Kunio was taking a stroll in that forest one day when it suddenly started raining heavily. He was running back to town when he saw a silver haired child beside a lake, and she was kneeling beside a blood covered deer! The girl noticed him and approached him. Afraid that he might become the next unfortunate victim, old man Kunio took off running and never returned to that forest. Until now, he still says he will never forget those blank amethyst coloured eyes staring right into his very soul."
Both girls shuddered at the disturbing image in their minds, "Oh, I've heard of another rumor about that yōkai, it says she drinks blood in order to survive, even humans. Could it be that's what she is doing to that deer?"
"I don't want to know! Besides yōkais don't really exist, right? They're just folklores." The two teenagers continued walking while the topic was being steered towards shopping, which seems to be their plan for the day.
'Hmm, another yōkai huh? Maybe I could check it out when we go home tonight.' Rikuo thought to himself. 'Perhaps, I can find myself a new ally.'

Chapter 1:
Encounter x A foreign world
I was surrounded by weird-looking people... okay screw that, freaky, inhuman-looking beings with a few exceptions. Neither of them looks friendly, total understatement of the century. So far, only one of them looks non-threatening.
He seems to be about twelve or so, has short brown-black hair with big shinny chocolate brown eyes and is that a more modernize spectacles he's wearing? He wears a black clothing with a blue shawl draped over his shoulders. All in all, he looked fairly normal... if I ignore the fact that he's wrapped up pretty nicely in bandages, like a mummy. Let me explain, how the hell I got into this mess.
*FLASHBACK*
The sky was a dull grey, with a thick fog shrouding the forest like a blanket. It's always cold in the morning, which was why I always wake up a few hours before noon when it is warmer and the fog, thinner. I could go for walks without worrying whether or not I'll trip over anything in the dense mist... another reason why I do not take walks in the morning. I believe I've tripped over a ferret that one time, the furry animal was not too pleased to say the least.
All in all, it was a normal morning like any another day. But somehow, I felt as if there will be some uninvited guests crashing in here, and not just any uninvited guests.
Over the years, people sporting odd looking gears and huge backpacks come every now and then. A sport called hiking if I'm not wrong. However, since the last "creepy" incident, it's been a couple of years since anyone came here. I'm perfectly aware of my creepy-doll-like appearance, what with my silver-white hair and purple eyes, and I know how to utilize it to my advantage. Hence, feeling somewhat evil and mischievous that day, I had the time of my life scaring the living daylights out of those unfortunate people who had the guts of ever venturing into my forest. Of course, I've made sure they wouldn't ever think of setting foot in here ever again.
The people living around this area is vaguely aware that "something" lives here and that I'm not really a people person, so naturally, they avoided coming here unless they really had to. Therefore the reason I was restless was not because I had uninvited guests about to crash in, it's because of what might be coming here.
For the past few days, hatred, malice and all other negative emotions were coming in huge waves from a city nearby. Just yesterday, there was a tremendous shift in the atmosphere. I had thought that the negative emotions could not get any worse, but I was proven wrong. Pure bloody red aura (a term I use for negative or hostile emotion) burst forth like dormant volcanoes suddenly deciding to erupt from all over the world. I could sense it all the way over here and it got on my nerves pretty badly. It's been a while since anything was able to get to me so that's saying something.
Till now, I still feel uneasy with that red aura suddenly appearing from seemingly out of nowhere and disappears later on just as quickly. Can't exactly blame me for being paranoid, I've been clutching my doll for comfort since then. She's my most treasured and favorite toy... actually, it's the only toy I have. My guardian, Hakuryuu— Haku for short, gave her to me as a present a long time ago, apparently, he made it himself, clothes and all. Which would explain why practically all of my clothes, including my doll's, are of the same victorian-based style.
Since I liked the colour light blue, Haku— being the amazing tailor that he is— made a couple dresses from various shades of blue. Accompanied by a baby blue hat with a dark blue satin ribbon. He used to tell me that I look like a doll when I wear his hand-made dresses and I didn't really like that comment. It was just plain disturbing. I hold nothing against the dress, clothes are clothes and I'm not complaining that I have clothes to wear. I still wear these dresses even though my guardian was long gone because... it feels like he never left.
The house he left me is nothing too special. The only thing that would make it be deemed as unusual is the fact that it was built into a cave, for camouflage purposes I think. So one glance at it from the outside, it looks like, well... a cave. My living space is sparsely furnished, with the living room connecting directly to the entrance. There's standard sized wooden oak table which can accommodate four people, plus four wooden chairs made out of the same material as the table placed around it.
A light coloured sofa with four turquoise cushions is placed in the middle of the living room. A tall lamp at the side and to the right side of the room, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves accompanied by a ladder occupies the space. Every nook and cranny of the shelves are filled with books, some are quite significantly old, if the yellowed pages have anything to say about it. The living room branches off from the left and into a hallway which contains two bedrooms, one was my guardian's and the other is mine. There's a washroom located at the end of the hallway and finally a kitchen in the other branch, which wasn't really used much, since there's only one person living here.
It was late evening when my suspicions of uninvited guests were confirmed. The auras were... different from anything that I've ever encountered.
Feeling anxious since the past few days, plus my curiosity and paranoia of at least knowing what I'm up against getting the better of me, I set my doll down on the sofa and hastily went out of my house and into the forest. Spreading out my aura to locate the weird and foreign energies and upon finding them, I headed towards it.
The evening is fog-free, which I'm very glad for, I hated not being able to see my surroundings clearly and my being prone to tripping over everything in my way in a fog does not help things either. Ironic, since I should be able to sense auras and all living things have an aura, especially that ferret. As I drew nearer to the weird auras, I noticed that they hadn't move for a while now.
'Maybe they had set camp?' I slowly approached their "camp", which is really a small clearing in the forest, and concealed my presence. Making sure I didn't step on twigs or anything that might give me away, I picked my way towards a less populated area and kneeled behind a tall bush, peeking through the thick foliage. I saw... someone. I rubbed my eyes, 'I must be seeing things.'
I eyed skeptically at a blonde haired man with... his head detached and floating above his shoulders as he hurried past my hiding place. '... ...How ...is that even remotely possible? Shouldn't he be like, I dunno, lying somewhere... DEAD? And last I checked, heads DO NOT GODAMN FLOAT.'
'...I think I'll head home and take a good long sleep. End of story.' I stood up and turned to leave, mind-blown and still in the midst of processing what I've just seen. Not four steps later, a strong hand clamp down onto my shoulder and I jumped, heart thundering so hard that I can hear the blood rushing towards my head. My stomach felt funny too, like it's doing acrobats in there.
"What do you think you're doing?"
...
I groaned inwardly, resisting the urge to facepalm. I forgot to check my surroundings before standing up and leave because of that floating head. 'Busted.'
I took a deep calming breath to ease my nerves and turned my head around robotically to see a boy looking to be around in his mid-teens. He has black hair with light grey highlights at the top and mahogany eyes that resembled suspiciously like the ferret that I've tripped over a few years ago. I swear those guys are out to get me.
He has a dark red bandana wrapped around his forehead and his outfit resembled that of a martial artist. If not for the given circumstances, I'd maybe say that he looked rather cute. But now... he could very well be the devil himself. His eyes widen after he caught sight of my face. 'What was that supposed to mean?' However, his shock was gone when I blinked and I wondered if I had imagined that up... Nope, I'm pretty sure I didn't.
"You- you don't seem to be part of the Nura clan," he said accusingly and pointed a sickle, which I hadn't known he was holding, at me.
I gave the blade a wary glance when it glimmered. 'That is one~ sharp blade.' "...Cuz I'm not." I deadpanned.
The boy narrowed his eyes, his aura turning a slight red. This usually doesn't mean anything good. "What do you want and why are you here?" He said, his tone of voice resembling a deadly snake poised and ready to strike.
Suddenly finding courage from nowhere, I twisted my body around and faced him. He seem to notice my sudden change in demeanor and upped his guard accordingly. "I live here, so don't act like I'm the one whose trespassing."
He blinked once, twice, and then he finally said, "You live here."
'Duh.' "Yes."
The teen seems to be contemplating about something as he fell silent for a couple of seconds, I can almost see the gears turning in his head. Just then, he looked like he had come to a decision. I did not like it when he smirked. "You're coming with me."
'...Didn't give me a choice there didja, sunshine?' I snarked inwardly.
*FLASHBACK OVER*
And this is how I ended up surrounded by weirdos. They didn't tie me up, I don't know if I should feel insulted or glad.
And so the big question now is~ what next?
Author's note:

I swear it's the last time I'm editing this chapter! I just couldn't take the mistakes and the not-so-good flow! (Which was a huge understatement.)
