This is set a week after Castle's "death" when Beckett and everyone still thinks he died on their wedding day. I do not own anything - if I did, they would be married by now!
It had been a week since Castle died on their wedding day and Beckett had not moved from Castle's bed since that day. She just lay there in her wedding dress (which she still hadn't taken off), smelling him on the pillows with the occasional cry session with Alexis and Martha. When they were not with her, she could hear them crying distantly and making funeral arrangements. She wanted to help but she physically couldn't as Castle death just reminds her of her mother's death especially as Castle died on Mother's Day. She picked Mother's Day to get married as she thought it would be a step into her new life with the man of her dreams but resulted in her taking 50 steps backwards.
She had been feeling sick for a week and a half now. At first, she thought it was because she found out she was married to Rogan three days before her wedding. The second time she was actually sick and it was two hours before she was meant to marry Castle but thought that was due to nerves and excitement. Since then she had been sick most days but always thought it was due to Castle's death as her whole body and mind went into destruction mode.
Lanie came to visit Beckett to see how she was but when she discovered she was puking often, she suggested Beckett see a doctor. Beckett refused knowing that it was just the pain of losing her love of her life that made her sick. Anyway, after much persuasion and Lanie reminding she was a doctor and knew this looks bad but wanted a second opinion, Beckett agrees to go see a doctor. When they went (after Lanie helped Beckett shower and change into normal clothes), the doctor took some tests and agreed that it was probably from Beckett grieving but will confirm it when the test results come through. Beckett went straight back home and into Castle's bed.
The next day, the doctor phoned. It took 5 times for Beckett to answer it as she had been ignoring her phone since the worse day of her life happened as it is just people sending their condolences. The doctor had news that shocked Beckett to her spine - she was pregnant. That was why she was feeling sick daily.
Not sure how to tell Alexis and Martha, she walked out of the bedroom and towards the kitchen to where there was as a higher mountain of used tissues than in Castle's bedroom. Martha and Alexis knew something was up as, except from going to the doctors, Beckett hadn't left that room. Martha brought Beckett food every now and again but it was hardly ever eaten.
Martha and Alexis stared at Beckett as she told them that she had just found out some big news. Scared that they would be upset as it would be a constant reminder that Castle was no longer with them, she told them slowly. Instead they smiled for the first time in a week. They were happy that there was something good to look forward to in their lives and a reason for them to get their lives back on track. Beckett realising they were right but was still wondering how she would be able to look after a child on her own. Martha and Alexis reminded her that she wouldn't be alone and that they would help her every step of the way and that Esposito, Ryan and Lanie would also give a hand. Beckett smiled as well and hugged Alexis and Martha as, even though Castle was no longer there, they were still a family.
