Author's notes: I know I should really be writing Time and Time Again, but this little oneshot just came to me this week and I had to write it. ^-^

Anyway, I don't actually have much to say, so I just hope you guys will enjoy it. :)

It was a beautiful summer day in the Tri-State Area; hot and sunny, with a cool breeze blowing through the urban canyons of downtown Danville. A few pigeons perched on a telephone wire lazily, while the citizens were tucked away in their houses with the air conditioner on, trying to escape the sweltering heat that enveloped the outdoors. It seemed that the whole of Danville was relaxing that afternoon, enjoying a unanimously peaceful day.

But not Doofenshmirtz.

The mad scientist had been enjoying a very evil morning planning his latest scheme when his nemesis, Perry the Platypus, had shown up. After that, they'd fought a bit, and that was when the secret agent should have left.

Well, he should have.

Now, the doctor had been fleeing from his nemesis for what seemed like hours, and Perry, who was chasing him relentlessly, showed no sign of giving up yet. Already, his breath was coming in short, uneven bursts, and he couldn't hear anything over the drumbeat of his racing heart. Why Perry had decided to pursue him for so long, he had no idea; the Lose-Weight-Inator he had planned to use that day had long since been destroyed, and yet the secret agent just kept going. Doofenshmirtz knew that he had to be tired too- after all, Perry was a very small creature, no matter how tough he was- but still he chased his nemesis all over Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, up and down stairs, throughout the halls, and even into the elevator briefly. For the life of him, the doctor just couldn't understand it, but he was getting sick of it.

Eventually, breathing harder than his thin frame had been built for, he glanced over his shoulder at the platypus racing along behind him and called, "For crying out loud, Perry the Platypus, I'm about to drop! Aren't you tired yet?"

Perry did not respond, of course, but he did narrow his eyes in thought. He raised his wrist and pulled back the fur to check his watch, as if he'd lost track of the time, and then stopped running abruptly. Doofenshmirtz kept going for a few feet, then realized the pattering of little flat feet behind him had ceased and came to a halt, panting heavily. For a moment, he couldn't find the breath to speak, and Perry seemed to be taking a moment to breathe as well. But when he looked up, he found that the secret agent had been scribbling something on a pad of paper during the short pause, and he was now ripping the page out. The platypus approached him with a slightly worn out gait and handed the note to him, offering a small smile. Doofenshmirtz raised an eyebrow suspiciously, still confused and not entirely inclined to trust his nemesis. But he took the note anyway. Perry just smiled, tipped his hat, and dashed off again, this time in a more tired fashion. Moments later, he had boarded the elevator and disappeared.

Doofenshmirtz looked after him in confusion, feeling rather bewildered. After a moment, he glanced down at the paper Perry had given him, wondering what it was. It contained only a small note and a hastily drawn sketch, neither of them what he had expected. What the note said was even more surprising;

Sorry I had to chase you for so long, but it was for your own good. I think you'll find being chased around for an hour or so to be much more effective than a Lose-Weight Inator.

Here, have a low-fat nonmaterial cookie.

Below the note, there was a small drawing of a cookie and a smiley face. Despite his exhaustion, Doofenshmirtz couldn't help but crack a weak smile. Well, that explained things.

Still, if Perry didn't stop trying to help with his health soon, he was sure it would be the death of him.
