I Don't Know You, But Still I Try

A SasuSaku Poem

You

You are without a leaf on your forehead

You tore yourself away from us

And I pretend to wonder why

There is a deep red in your past

On one side of the mirror

I see you as I first saw you

Stoic but kind

Unfortunately

Your reflection

It proves that I don't know you anymore

Your black eyes used to freeze me

But now

Now that the you I once knew is truly gone

I too know of a deep loneliness

Still, you will say I do not understand

So I'll just wait

I'll wait for you to see the ashes revenge brings

I'll wait for the you that I remember

And even if

You are covered in the blood of yesterday's memories

I'll reach out to you

And like I always have been

I'll be there for you

~And I'll kiss your leafless forehead~
