Duo woke up and glanced around the unfamiliar room. He didn't recognize anything. Groaning, he tried to sit up.
"Don't move!" Wufei shouted as he entered the room.
"OW!" Duo flopped down. "I don't think I can. What happened?"
"You were injured in the attack. Now stay still and let me see your wounds." Wufei quickly and efficiently cleaned Duo up.
Just before he fell asleep Duo muttered a quiet "Thanks 'Fei." He thought he saw a faint smile on the usually stern face as he fell asleep.

Duo woke up to another unfamiliar room. Keeping still he waited. Shortly Wufei entered the room. "We had to leave the last house. It was too close to the base." His words were terse, but his touches gentle as a lovers. Duo suppressed a smile. Wufei, unfortunately, did not currently fit that category.
Sighing, he closed his eyes.
"Maxwell?" Was that a hint of worry in his smooth voice?
"'M ok 'Fei, thanks." Duo fell asleep again.

Duo felt much better the next time he woke up. Shifting slightly, he found that moving was still a bad idea. Laying still he gazed at yet another new room and listened. Holding very still he caught a conversation outside his door.
"We need to get him to a doctor."
"Unfortunately, we can't right now. However, Wufei is taking good care of him."
A snort was heard. "Baka. He won't let anyone else take care of him! He is going to exhaust himself."
"Let him do this Heero." A gentle smile was heard in that light voice.
"Why? He should be resting!" Outright anger.
"Because it is what he wants."
Duo stared at the ceiling in shock. Wufei was still taking care of him? He hadn't foisted him off as soon as they rejoined the others? Duo fell asleep with a wide grin. His wish might be coming true.

He awoke to find anxious black eyes hovering over him. "How are you feeling Duo?" The voice was as stern as ever, but the care shown through his eyes.
"I.." Duo coughed. Firm hands helped him sit up and handed him a glass. After taking a drink Duo tried again. "I'm feeling good, a bit sore."
Worried black eyes scanned him over. "Are you sure?"
Duo smiled. "Yea, I'm ok."
Wufei hovered, hands twitching the sheets.
"Thank you."
A guarded expression.
"Thank you for taking care of me."
Rose tinted cheeks turned away. "I was taking care of a fellow pilot."
A soft chuckle. "Sure. But thanks anyway."
Eyes dropped as the blush returned. "Y-you are welcome."
"That's better. Now how 'bout some food!"
A very soft chuckle. "Very well. What do you wish."
Duo gave him a sultry grin. The blush deepened.

Duo woke up once more in an unfamiliar room. But this time a familiar warmth was wrapped around him. Turning, he laid an arm across the one holding him. He smiled. No matter where he went now, this would always be his home.
