It was well past midnight and Gibbs had dropped her off from their yearly birthday dinner when she heard some commotion from inside her apartment. She contemplated calling the police; or even better, Gibbs, but something told her to see for herself. She eased the door open and held out her can of mace. When the man turned around, it wasn't long before he was on his knees writhing in pain. he flipped on the switch to find it was none other than Timothy McGee.

"Timmy!! Oh my gosh…oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. Oh my gosh…oh my gosh." She helped him up and ushered him to the kitchen sink. But both of them knew the chemicals had to run their course. She sat him down on the couch and wrapped his arm around his back in an attempt to comfort him. "It will go away soon…I think most of it missed…" she wasn't sure if her words were more for her than they were for him.

"It's okay…it's okay…it's not that bad." He pinched his fingers between his eyes and took in a deep breath. "Happy Birthday by the way." He pointed to the huge array of paper and ribbons that stood in plain sight.

Abby hadn't paid attention to anything else but Tim and was oblivious. "Oh Timmy…you shouldn't have."

He nodded. "Wanted it to be a surprise…guess the jokes on me." He cringed as the stinging in his eyes increased a bit.

She examined the gift and it didn't take her long to deduce the contents. When she finished unwrapping it; she was speechless.

"The guy I bought it from thought I was nuts…but I just told him I was getting it for myself in case I bit the dust…" He tried to laugh. "Hope I didn't jinx myself."

She raced over and embraced him gently. "I would kiss you right now if I wasn't afraid of getting that residue in my mouth." She looked back at the gift and hid a smile. "Oh McGee…I think I love you."

And if hadn't been for that fact that the chemicals in his eyes had heated his core temperature; you could almost see his cheeks blush. "Wanted it to be something special…something you'd enjoy…"

Abby smiled at the new glistening coffin in front of her. "I'm sure it's something we could both enjoy McGee…" she blushed a bit. "Once you can see again…"

He managed to smile through the pain. "Whether I can see or not; it won't change how beautiful you are…"
