The Royal Harness

It was an average saturday in the Diaz house, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping and half the kids in the home were awake. See, the Diaz's son Marco was usually awake around eight in the morning on weekends while their house guest the Princess of Mewni well… tended to wake up at the crack of noon sometimes. Considering the house was rather quiet and peaceful, today seemed to be one of those days. Still after he finished his breakfast, Marco decided to perform the task he had set upon himself: Make sure her highness wakes up before the afternoon. He could leave her be, but he's seen the magically destructive results of a half awake royal in homeroom.

"I wonder if Derick's cast finally came off…"

"Oh darling it looks wonderful on you!"

A voice interrupted his thoughts, sounding like it came from Star's bedroom. He rushed up to go check on his interdimensional friend, knowing that she might need help with whatever she's gotten up to. Upon entering the room he saw something completely different than what was expected.

"AAAHH! MARCO!"

But it was too late. Marco had seen enough.

There before him speaking to her mother was Star Butterfly wearing a harness to improve her posture.

He struggled to maintain his composure as the queen spoke.

"Ah yes, Star's little human friend can you please tell her to stop acting so ridiculous and that she looks fine in her "Royal Posture Corrector"?

He nodded, too afraid to open his mouth.

"You see? It's all the rage with the other Princesses and it'll fix your posture in no time. Now just wear it for at least four hours a day okay? I'll have to leave you now, your father's diplomatic dialogue with the King Huffenberrin seems to be going south. Farewell."

The mirror's visuals were gone and he was left alone with the Princess who gave him a curious look if nothing else, which sent Marco into hysterics.

Star glared daggers at him: "It's not funny Marco!"

"I know but, "Royal Posture Corrector"?! I never thought it would literally be called that!"

She immediately began to rip off the harness and angrily began demeaning it. She started claimed that she didn't need it and she could keep good posture by herself.

Marco had found a new task to complete.

Star headed down stairs and began eating her breakfast. He followed after and waited for the moment her guard and shoulders were down and-

"Star, posture!"

She immediately sprang forward into a straight position with a freaked out look on her face before looking over to her bestie. Her mouth opened to speak but was cut off by the boy across from her.

"Remember, your Mom wants to see you straightened out by next week and if you can't remind yourself or listen to me, there's always…"

"I hate you right now."

So the exchanges and reminders continued for days until Queen Butterfly made another call to check on her progress. She began to acknowledge the improvements her daughter had made and commended her for actually going through with it. Once their chat was over, the Princess returned to her book of spells when her friend entered the room.

"So how'd it go with your Mom?"

"Fine, she was actually proud of me which hasn't happened since I was five."

"Well hopefully your Mom will ease up a bit in the future."

"I'd doubt it."

He was going to step out before he remembered something…

"You've been looking through that book the past few days, what spell are you looking for?"

"Amnesia."
