I have no one.
What would Lee do? Find somewhere safe for the night. Trust no one. That's what he'd told me when he died. I lost Christa, and Omid is long gone.
I walk along the dirt trail, ignoring the warning sign about wild animals attacking. I stumble across a cabin. It looks abandoned. I grab my hammer I stole from that shed a few miles back.
I knock on the door, for people or walkers. Nothing. I open it carefully. I check every room. Some bloody corpses in the bedroom.
I come to find a hatchet just hanging on the wall, and some loaded guns.
I close the door behind me, and put a chair to the knob.
It's cold in here, but it's better than outside. At least in here, there are no trotters.
I wake up to banging on the wooden door. I have my hatchet ready, ready to swing at the first threat to waltz in here. It bursts open, and an angry mare aims her gun at me.
"Who the hell are you?!" she orders.
"Shh!" I whisper. It's dark outside, the sky is black and you could here the moaning and trees shaking. Otherwise it's awfully quiet.
She closes the door behind her and lights a lantern. She sits at the table. I watch her silently, waiting. She points her gun at the seat across from her. "Sit down." She says, more calm.
I do as she says. "What happened to you?" She asks, her black hair is tight in it's ponytail. Her earing at the tip of her ear. She has a cut on her lip. A leather jacket, and a belt full of knives and guns, and a machete. Her hands are stained with blood, along with her jeans and combat boots.
I find no reason to lie to her. I tell her about my friend Christa, how I'm searching for her. She doesn't bring up my parents. Or even ask who took care of me all this time.
"What about you?" I ask her.
"My sister and I got separated. I'm looking for her, too." She sighs. "She could sing well."
"Tell me your name." she doesn't call me kid, or a little girl. Maybe she doesn't underestimate me.
"It's... Clementine."
"I'm Krissi." she offers her hand. I shake it. "Maybe we can be friends. Find our families."
"Maybe." I say.
"We should get some rest, you can have the couch." she says. Don't trust anybody Lee's voice says.
"How do I know I can trust you?" I say sternly. It takes her a minute to respond.
"I have no reason to kill you." She says finally. "How can I trust you?"
"Same reason."
"Good."
