The day started like any other for Rachel. She woke up and did her normal routine of working out, showering, eating and getting to school a half an hour before school started to do her vocal warm ups. She saw Finn with Quinn and anger boiled inside her. How could Finn forgive Quinn for cheating when he couldn't forgive her? Quinn had gotten pregnant and Rachel had just kissed Puck she didn't understand it and it only made her madder to think of Finn. Her anger told her she didn't want Finn back anyways, but it was the principal of the thing.
She went to Spanish and math and forgot about Finn and Quinn until she headed into her history class, which she had with Finn and Quinn, and saw Holly Holiday was subbing again.
"Today we're going to be learning about the early settlers." The class groaned and Holly added, "Come on it's fun." Holly started her lesson dressed in an old dress complete with pantaloons.
"Since I can't hit you guys with rulers, we're going to act as close to how the early settlers had it in school." She divided the class up with the boys on the left and the girls on the right and started to walk around talk about some of the cultures that the pioneers had established. Finn being Finn kept talking despite how many times Holly told him to stop. Fed up she grabbed out a white cone made out of poster board and told Finn to go sit in the corner. After much protesting he picked up his chair and carried it to the corner and sat staring at the wall. Holly placed the cap on his head and Rachel was able to read that on the poster board it said "dunce".
Holly went back to teaching and after only five minutes Finn asked if he could go back to the table.
"No, you're staying there for the rest of class and because you talked your classmates are going to teach you to be quiet." Holly passed around a bag full of stuffed animals.
"Everyone take one. Normally, Finn would have been whipped, but we can't do that so instead each of you are going to throw these stuffed animals at him." Holly explained and Rachel smiled. She noticed Brittany, Santana and Quinn were smiling too. She waited her turn to throw her stuffed lamb that she had her hand. She watched with amusement as Santana threw a duck, Brittany threw a possum and Quinn threw a frog along with the rest of the class. Finally, it was Rachel's turn and as she was standing behind Finn about to throw her lamb Holly came over and whispered in her ear.
"Don't you want to say something to him?" Rachel nodded and headed forward to whisper in his ear.
"I, for once and for all, am over you. We will never be together again." Finn's head fell and Rachel went back to stand behind him. She threw the lamb at his head and felt all her anger and hurt dissipate from her body. The bell rang and Quinn found her.
"That was amazing what you did in there." Quinn stated.
"I just told Finn that I was over him and hit him with a lamb." Rachel said surprised.
"I know, but it's amazing that you're over Finn and knowing you you'll actually stick to it, not take him back even though you're in love with someone else."
"Are you not in love with Finn?" Rachel asked.
Quinn opened her mouth and what came out surprised Rachel, "Ain't nothing gonna bring me down."
"What?" Rachel asked confused.
"Ain't nothing gonna break my stride." She heard and Rachel opened her eyes to find herself in bed. Looking at her clock she saw it was six o'clock and the dream came back to her suddenly. She smiled as her dream played through her memory knowing she would have the dream in her mind all day making her remember her vow that she will always keep.
