Tension

Sammy listened to Tony as he rambled on about what he'd found out about their missing kid but when she heard Gibbs groan she directed her attention to him. He was pinching the bridge of his nose and sighing.

"... I'd say we should check out the house next," Tony finished.

"Go," Gibbs grunted in his usual tone, "Take Declan with you."

"Right," Tony said turning to grab his pack, "On it Boss."

With that Tony and Declan disappeared into the elevator leaving Sammy and Gibbs alone in the bullpen. As soon as the coast was clear Sammy walked around Gibbs desk to stand behind him and rub his shoulders.

"Your head bothering you?" Sammy whispered softly.

Gibbs nodded just enough to get his point across.

"How bad is it?" Sammy asked, starting to run her fingers through his hair.

"Had worse," Gibbs mumbled, closing his eyes and concentrating on Sammy's fingers as they ran over his scalp.

"On a scale from one to ten?" Sammy asked softly, not wanting to aggravate his headache any more.

"Seven," Gibbs breathed, eyes still closed.

"Does it feel like a tension headache?" Sammy asked as she moved to gently but firmly squeezing his shoulders.

"That's making it better," Gibbs said shifting so she had better access to his neck.

"Tension is it," Sammy said softly, "You're working yourself up."

"I am not," Gibbs said in what he hoped was a firm tone but he knew was probably a very sad, muted exclamation.

"You are, and if you keep it up we're going to have to solve this case without you," Sammy said in a very motherly tone, "Relax, we're gonna fine her, alive and well."

"You don't know that," Gibbs argued.

"I do know that," Sammy said firmly, "Because I have a gut feeling and I know that we are the best so if anyone has a chance of finding her it's us, but we need you to do it and with you working yourself up into knots you're not going to be much help."

Gibbs sighed, he wanted to put up more of a fight but he knew she was right. He decided to preserve what pride he had left and only nodded his understanding.

"Good," Sammy said with a small smile of victory before turning him to face her, "I'm going to get us some coffee while you work on just relaxing."

"Kay," Gibbs said, sighing in defeat.

Sammy planted a soft kiss on his lips before grabbing her wallet and headed for the elevator.

When Sammy came back Gibbs was sitting at his desk his eyes closed, seemingly asleep sitting up. She quietly walked around his desk and set his coffee in front of him. As soon as Gibbs smelt the coffee he opened his eyes.

"Hey, I thought you were asleep," Sammy said softly.

"Nope," Gibbs said simply, grabbing his coffee and taking a long sip.

"How's your head?" Sammy asked, nonchalantly running her fingers through his hair again.

"Better," Gibbs said honestly.

"Good, now let's get to work so we have something to show when Tony and Declan get back," Sammy said with a smile.

Gibbs nodded, smiling back.

Sammy kissed him again before sitting at her desk and getting to work. They would find this little girl because that's what they do and they are damn good at it!
