From Me To You
Harry opened his eyes blearily as an owl tapped at his window. He rolled over to grab his ever present glasses, only to find them blocked by an envelope. Harry grabbed the envelope and tossed it on his bed before placing his glasses roughly on his face so he could let the owl in.
"Alright, alright, I hear you," he grumbled sleepily, noticing the early hour of 6 am. The owl held a small parcel, no bigger than a ring box. Harry's curiosity was struck. Harry quickly peeked at his wife's sleeping form before snatching the envelope off the bed and heading to his study with the tiny parcel in hand.
Harry shut the door softly and put a couple charms on it to alert him if anyone, namely Ginny, was close by. There was only one person who would send him something so early in the morning. Carefully Harry opened the envelope since he had learned quickly with this person the explanation had to be read first. The letter was short but read:
Harry,
Happy Birthday. Feeling old yet? I have shrunken your present to fit nicely into a ring box. No, I would not give you a ring. That is absurd. I think you will figure out what your gift is for. Try it out as soon as you like, but remember it's our little secret.
Yours,
Draco
Setting the letter aside, Harry now reached for the small box. He resisted the urge to shake it, and rightly so, for when he popped the lid open there lay a two way mirror inside. He gasped almost inaudibly as he plucked the tiny mirror from its resting place and enlarged it. Draco was obviously awake now seeing as he said Harry could try it as soon as he liked, and try it he did.
"Draco?" Harry waited for a moment before he could see his clandestine friend's face.
"Do you like it?"
Harry's face split into a wide grin. "It's the best present yet! Thank you, Draco."
With that Draco gave a small smile. "Just a little something from me to you. You should get back to bed now. Don't want the wife irate on your birthday, now do we?"
"No, probably not. I'll try talking to you later."
Draco nodded. "And we are still dining tomorrow as planned, do not forget."
"I won't. Thanks again!"
"Happy Birthday, again. No go!" Draco commanded as the connection was severed.
Harry unlocked the bottom right hand drawer to his desk where he had saved the letters and birthday presents of years passed from his friend. Best to keep them hidden until the opportune moment came to share his secretive friendship, but for the time being, Harry would enjoy his 30th birthday.
