A/N: Tiny, tiny one-shot following season 2's Halloween episode in which the gang finds out all sorts of horrible things about themselves- including the kiss that Hyde gave Donna. Thanks for reading!

Donna shivered as the gang stood around their little pit, watching as Hyde kicked dirt into the hole, covering their permanent records bit by bit. She stood near Eric, but he was pointedly not touching her and she missed the casual arm he usually slung around her shoulders.

"See you in Hell, permanent records." Hyde smirked as the last file was buried.

"And we have to swear never to speak of this again." Eric spoke up.

"Except for the part about Kelso buying us beer!" Donna added helpfully.

"Yeah, naturally. But otherwise, it's like this night never happened, okay?" said Eric gravely.

Everyone agreed, and after a minor altercation between Hyde and "Beula" Burkhart, they piled into the Vista Cruiser for the ride home. On the Forman driveway, most of the gang headed for home and Hyde went inside, leaving Donna and Eric alone, much to her delight.

Eric turned towards the basement door and Donna stopped him by grabbing his arm. "Hey..." she whispered. "The night is still young..."

Even Eric couldn't miss the meaning behind her words, and he lowered his face that inch or two to hers and kissed her deeply.

Donna pulled him back toward the Cruiser and they climbed onto the hood, hands roaming and tongues searching frantically. Donna sighed contentedly and moved to kiss his neck, but Eric seemed oddly stiff and not as responsive as usual. She pulled back. "Eric? What's wrong?"

"Nothing." he said, but he wasn't meeting her gaze.

"Bullshit." Donna said with a smile. "C'mon... what?"

Finally Eric looked her in the eyes. "You and Hyde. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Hey, I thought we were forgetting all about everything that happened earlier?" Donna said. "You're not very good at this."

"I tried to forget. But..."

Donna could tell this was really bothering him. "Eric it was nothing..."

"My girlfriend and my best friend kiss and it's nothing?" Eric's eyes were wide and distressed.

"It wasn't like that." Donna protested. "It was back a while ago when Hyde used to have a crush on me. Right after you and I started dating. And when we were at Jackie's cabin we ended up alone somehow and he kissed me."

"After we were dating?" Eric repeated angrily.

"I pushed him away, Eric, and said you were the only guy for me, and he told me he felt bad about hitting on me while I was with you, and we both just decided to drop it." Donna explained quickly.

Eric's eyes softened the slightest bit. "Why?"

"Because we knew it would hurt you." Donna said quietly.

"It does." he answered.

Donna felt her eyes moisten. Damn Jackie for spilling the beans! "I'm so sorry, Eric." They both knew she wasn't apologizing for her own behavior; she hadn't done anything wrong. She was apologizing for the effect it had on Eric. "It didn't mean anything. I would never do that to you, Eric."

"Hey," Eric said gently. "Don't cry. I didn't mean any of it was your fault." He leaned down and pressed a short kiss to her lips. "I just... I know you were protecting me. And thanks, I guess." His arms snaked around her and pulled her close. "And... I know you're not like that. I trust you."

Donna was silent for a moment as she acknowledged the weight of his declaration."Hey, you know what would make you feel better?" she ventured.

"Mm?" Eric asked.

"If you kissed me so hard we both forgot about Hyde." And she tugged on the collar of his shirt and sent her lips crashing into his, forcefully, passionately.

"Fine by me." Eric gasped, taking a quick breath before returning to her lips.

And it didn't take long to forget Hyde.
