It all started on a cold, winter day. Caroline was freezing outside while walking in to get a Starbucks cup of coffee. She had to quickly run in and get it before she missed the bus that brought her home. Luckily, she managed to somehow wriggle her way in the front of the line and got a simple Vanilla Latte, but as she sprinted out the door, someone tripped her and, being the clumsy person she is, she fell onto someone.
"OH MY GOD! I am SO sorry," Caroline blurted, attempting to dry the stain out of her dress with her scarf.
"No, you're all good. I'm the one who tripped you in the first place," the man said, reaching his hand out to help her get up.
"But I thought it was the guy ba-"
"Here, let me help you get that out," he said pointing to the stain, "That's quite a mess you made there."
"Tell me something I don't know," she sighed.
They both just stared at each other for a bit and laughed.
"Let me buy you another coffee," the guy said.
"No you really don't have to do that!" she insisted.
"It's completely fine Miss...?"
"Forbes. Caroline Forbes," she replied, "And your name?"
"Stefan Salvatore."
"Well Stefan, it's nice to meet you, but you really don't have to do this. I'm perfectly capable of buying myself a drink," she said.
Stefan went ahead and bought her a drink anyways. They enjoyed the warmness of the coffees and it was going well until... "OH GOD!" Caroline said, "I completely forgot about the bus! I have to catch the next one!"
"The next one doesn't come until hours and standing in the cold weather won't help. Let me take you," Stefan said.
"Seriously, you don't have to do that, you've done enough." She Exclaimed.
"Great! It's settled. You're coming with me." he said.
"Okay, okay." she stubbornly agreed, walking out the door.
Stefan offered his jacket to her and went to his car as they then drove off into the sunset.
