Hello Guys. It's been about 4 years since I started this fic and didn't finish it. Many things happened during this time and I got to a point that I lost the connection with it, but now I'm back and I took a look at it and decided to REBOOT it. I don't know if any of the old readers are out there, but this time I will finish it with a better and cleaner version of what I started. The base is the same, but now it's enhanced. Hope you enjoy it. =]

2010

Sheva and Leon had been seeing each other. They met due to Chris and Jill following the events of Africa. Sheva had already spent a time with Chris after Africa, but his heart belonged to somebody else and so she decided to move on and not get hurt anymore. She didn't have anything against Jill, but it seemed like Jill was always in her way somehow. It didn't bother her, but to share Chris was another story. So she returned to Africa but had to return back to US because she had been assigned as Chris's new partner as Jill had obtained a license from the BSAA to organize her life after her abduction as she wasn't feeling well enough to keep fighting on the field. They saw it as a plausible reason and conceded her the time off as long as she needed, but she would still be a member and now she'd work at the BSAA Intelligence.

And then Leon was there…At first nothing suggested that they would turn to each other. She knew he was a hot guy, an attractive one, but he was quiet, sometimes too quiet and mysterious. He had his moments of jokes and plays, but sometimes he was completely closed, so self absorbed. She wasn't used to this kind of behavior, but she could understand it, and besides, she was focused on someone else, Chris.

However he made his choice. It wasn't her. Even though they had a great time, he still couldn't let go of Jill, especially now that he had her back by his side. She knew it could happen anytime so she tried to not get too emotionally involved with him. Still though she felt the pain, but she had to recover fast, she was his partner. She had to live with him almost every day and even see him with Jill. It was a strong pain, but she didn't demonstrate it in front of him, but when she was alone at home…

And then there was Leon at that fatidic day. They had already been on talking terms, but that day changed their relationship forever…

The group was reunited Celebrating one year anniversary of Wesker's defeat and also of course Jill's return. Claire was dating Carlos and both were sitting on the sofa talking and laughing with the others and some were standing or sitting on couches or even on the floor. Billy was with Rebecca. Chris and Jill were standing next to the counter. Barry was with his wife and children. Sheva was sitting on the single couch next to Claire and Carlos paying attention, yet sometimes she felt a little disconnected.

They were all excited and sharing experiences, talking loud and playing. Singing and drinking as the door bell rang. Barry's wife answered it. Some paid attention to who it was and others not. It was the delivery boy bringing the pizza.

All of them took a plate and sat on the table and started eating. One seat was vacant.

"So Sheva, don't be shy, you're a part of the team. Share something we don't know, anything…" Carlos encouraged her

"What do you want to know?" She replied a bit awkward about his comment

"How does it feel like…" he was interrupted as the doorbell rang

Barry opened the door.

"Hey Kennedy, got yourself lost?" Chris joked from the table as he saw Leon entering

"Yep! Lost my GPS!" He played back with his serious face and they laughed a bit

"You just arrived on time, get yourself comfortable and join us!" Barry's wife said smiling

He took a plate and cutlery and sat on the available seat that was between Jill and Barry.

They were all talking paralleled, but Sheva was more on her own, just like Leon. But that was his usual self. As some finished their meals and left the table leaving only Chris, Jill, Leon, Sheva and Barry's daughters

"I've heard there was someone else with the three of you, where is he?" Leon asked Sheva who was right in front of him

"Uhm, you mean Josh?"

"Yeah."

"He's in Africa."

"I thought he was going to be here… with you." Jill looked to the side when she heard this and disguised a soft smile and Leon noticed that, but maintained his focus

"Yes he was supposed to be here but had to cancel due to a last minute assignment"

"Too bad, it would have been good if he was here, since he's also a part of this anniversary"

"Yeah, it would!" She said a bit embarrassed. "Excuse me…" She said a few seconds later and went to the bathroom

Chris and Jill just got looking at each other as they heard the conversation. Chris wiped his mouth on napkin and left the table leaving only Jill and Leon behind and went to talk to Claire who was in the yard with Carlos and Rebecca.

Jill noticed Chris's actions and didn't know exactly what to do about the situation and looked at Leon, who seemed to be wondering what he said wrong or so she thought, it was not like he had a bunch of expression. The silence between them was a little awkward and it wasn't like Jill was a stranger to him so she decided to break the silence, "So Kennedy, you never change huh?" she said being suggestive.

"What are you trying to say?" he asked her back with a smile catching her drift.

"I am… of course talking about your habit of showing up late", she said rolling her eyes being casual with him, "I still remember the countless times you kept me waiting."

"Well its kinda hard to get out of work you know", he replied with sigh of tiredness.

"Yeah I know", she responded understandably and then continued after a pause of a second or two, "I am glad that you could make it. I was more than sure that you'd be ditching this celebration."

"I wouldn't have missed it for anything I guess and once in a while I also can use a change of air", Leon said speaking his mind.

"True", Jill agreed with him, "Besides its good for you to be social and meet people", she implied referring to Sheva.

"Well I don't know, she kinda looked offended", Leon said getting her hint.

"She's going through a tough time at the moment", Jill told him sighing, feeling responsible somehow, "And I'd suggest you don't kid around with her."

"I wasn't… I was being serious. She looked a little out of place, so I just wanted to make her feel a little involved", Leon told her being as serious as he could

"That's good then", Jill said giving him a smile.

Sheva was in front of the mirror at the bathroom. She needed to leave that house immediately. She had done her role already, it was time to go. Even though she tried to be ok seeing Chris with Jill, her heart didn't follow her reason. She also didn't intend to leave the table like that, but maybe she could take the opportunity as she had someone now talking directly to her, but his fame… what exact were his actions behind that talking? They had already kind of talked before, but never like that, it was more like "hi" and "bye", but it also happened while they were just passing by, so obviously there was no time for long talking like now. However, she didn't feel right to give him some chance to talk right in front of Chris. Somehow she felt like "cheating" on him. Not him personally, but her feeling for him. She heard the knock on the door. It was Claire.

"Sheva, are you ok?" Claire asked her concerned.

"Yes, I'll be out in a bit" She yelled from this side of the door and opened the door in a bit.

"I saw you running through the hall, you feeling alright?" Claire asked her warmly.

"Yes! Everything is fine" She told her smiling weakly.

"Good!" Claire mirrored that smile, "for a moment I thought you've got some food allergies", she tried to joke as they made their way back to hall.

"So what were you and Leon talking about?" she asked after a moment of silence.

"He was asking about Josh", Sheva replied remembering the talk at the table.

"Hum…" Claire said thoughtful, "never saw this coming…" she eyed Sheva with a grin she didn't understand.

"What do you mean?" Sheva looked confused.

"Leon talking to you…" Claire said in an obvious tone, "He's usually not this social, you know?"

"Yeah, I was a little taken aback by that as well", Sheva said in agreement. "But he's a nice guy", Claire said not looking at her

"Why are you telling me this?" Sheva couldn't help but ask, she has nothing to do with Kennedy.

"So you don't misunderstand him. I mean he doesn't really take much to his fame", Claire said sincerely, turning to look at her.

"I won't ignore him if he talks to me if that's what you're saying, but I don't know where you want it to lead", Sheva said shaking her head doubtfully.

"I'm not asking you to flirt back with him, but let him speak… he barely does that, but he's changed…" Claire explained vaguely as they were coming back to the living room

"I don't know why you say that…" Sheva stopped talking as she spotted Jill and Leon talking. They looked serious, she wasn't sure if she should sit there again, it seemed liked they needed some privacy. And then she looked in backyard's direction and noticed Chris looking at her, but he disguised by taking out his phone and checking something. As she got closer, she heard a bit of Jill and Leon's conversation.

"You better not be late this time", Jill said almost warningly standing up.

"Yeah I'd try not to disappoint them this time" He replied as he too stood up to leave.

Jill walked over to be with Chris as Leon passed by Sheva and Claire saying his goodbyes to them as went by.

"Already leaving mister busy?" Claire joked

"Yeah, I've got some things to do."

"At least you came, it was nice of you, and I mean it!" Claire said with a warm smile

"It's an important thing…" Leon replied in his monotonous tone

"Yeah, it is! So it was good to see you, talk to you later and be careful!" She said as she hugged him and then joined Carlos

"Ok!" He replied and then smiled to Sheva

"I hope we can talk more some other time, you seem to be a nice girl, but we're always running." He said

"Yeah, I agree. We could've talk more today if you weren't leaving already…" she replied

"Right, but we'll have more opportunities. It's good for the group to get to know each other better…"

"Yes, I agree. So see ya later." She replied and he smiled and gave his hand. She saw it and they shook it. Then he said goodbye to all the others and left. And then the others were leaving too and the celebration was over.

Well guys, that's it for now. I hope you liked it. Feel free to review it. Bye =]
