Something between Them
Leon Vance was not terribly interested in talking to his wife as they got ready for bed after the New Year's Party, put Jackie seemed to want to talk.
"DiNozzo and Ziva weren't there tonight," Jackie uttered as she washed her face.
"Yeah," Vance shrugged as he thought about his meeting the next day. He began to brush his teeth. He wondered why Jackie cared so much.
"Maybe, they were having a private new year's or something," Jackie continued, "You remember how we used to countdown,"
As memories of the celebrations they used to have before the children echoed in his head, he started to choke on his toothpaste at the thought of DiNozzo and David doing it. He spat out the white muck and looked back at his wife.
"What?" he said.
"Oh, come on Leon," Jackie cried with her hands on her hips. "There is something going on between them,"
"They're close partners," Vance responded, too close for his liking.
"Yeah, partners," Jackie uttered as she brushed her hair.
"Work partners," Vance clarified.
"Yeah right," Jackie replied, "Maybe they're not doing it right now but there is something between them,"
"Not in my Agency," Vance replied. Vance did not like Agents fraternizing.
"You have married Agents," Jackie cried as she put hand cream on.
"None of them worked on the same team," Vance replied.
"Does it matter," Jackie uttered, "Leon, you and I both know how much better life is when you have someone who you love and loves you back. Does it matter how you meet them. Don't you want what we have for someone else?"
The thought of Tony and Ziva with two kids and dog made him consider vomiting but even he could not deny that there was something going on between DiNozzo and David.
