Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything you recognize. I just like to play with Professor Snape.
My SAT prep Story
In the aftermath of the final battle, as the Weasley's grieved and Potter celebrated, a young Slytherin slipped out of the hall. Maria had noticed the absence of her head of house and wanted to check on him. She headed to the Shrieking Shack, wondering why no one else was worried.
On the way, she passed many death eaters, including her father. She didn't care that he would likely be given the Dementor's kiss; he had alienated her years ago with his disgusting friendship with Voldemort and the Malfoys.
She, like everyone else, had heard Voldemort bragging about killing Snape, he even claimed to have aggrandized the wound, increasing the blood flow and the pain. But she hoped to at least make him comfortable. She couldn't believe that no one else had tried to save him; they had just left him there.
She entered the shrieking shack, leaving the door ajar in her haste. She pounded up the stairs and entered the room, but there was no sign of her aloof potions master. She noticed a blood trail that must have been left the snake slithered away from what the old fool Dumbledore had called, "The Altercation." Or maybe, just maybe, the Potions master has escaped? She thought about scourgifying it, but it could be her only clue as to where the Professor went. And she had to know, there was no alternative.
And then she heard it. She heard the high, clear voice of a woman singing something that sounded so sweet, so comforting, so familiar… As she followed the sound she recognized the tune as "Amazing Grace," a muggle hymn. She reached the room, peered inside and gasped. There was a very beautiful, very pregnant woman sitting next to Professor Snape and pouring potions down his throat. She finished the song and called over her shoulder, "Come in Maria, I need some help."
After the timid fifth year entered the room, the woman said, "Can you give him the rest of these? " Maria nodded and expertly administered the last few potions. The woman returned and introduced herself as Anna before sending Maria into the hall. When she returned ten minutes later, she found Professor Snape dressed and looking tired, but alive while Anna wrapped her arms around his waist.
The Professor raised his hand in lazy gesture of welcome and Maria noticed the silver wedding band on his finger. "So, Professor, Anna is your wife?"
Anna answered quickly, "yes. It is a very well kept secret that I can hardly wait to make common knowledge."
The Professor finally spoke, not in his usual silky drawl, but in a rather gravelly voice she hoped would heal, "We will do that soon, my love, before the baby is born." The adoration and love in his voice was odd, but comforting to the teen who had always respected her head of house.
"Professor, I'm going back to the castle. I'm glad you're alright."
He nodded and turned to Anna, "She is a remarkable young lady. She'll be a wonderful healer I'm sure."
And he snuggled under the covers with his wife, feeling safe and at peace for the first time in nearly twenty years.
Just a few months later he would name his daughter Elizabeth Marie and reveal to the young Maria that she was to be god mother, with Remus Lupin, a good friend despite what others thought, serving as Godfather.
He had all he ever wanted, a strong faith, a gorgeous wife, a beautiful daughter and amazing friends.
But he still acted like the greasy git of the dungeons during class.
