Her bags sat packed as she sat on the couch, awaiting the cab, her foot tapping on the floor, eager to leave.
He sat in his car in the driveway, taking a deep breath before he opened the car door. He made his way to the front door, the creaking of the porch steps alerted Caroline to his presence. She jumped off of the couch, frantic, he wasn't supposed to be home yet!

She ran a hair through her already ragged locks, trying to think of a lie, or a plan, before she finally decided, the truth was in order. She couldn't lie to him about this, she couldn't bottle it up.
As he opened the door, he saw them. The Louis Vuitton luggage he had bought her for her last birthday, sitting neatly next to the shoe mat. He could hear her breathing heavily, and he looked up, the pain clear on his face. She was leaving him?

"Hi." She whispered her voice horse.

"Caroline…" he whispered, his eyes downcast at the floor, if she was going to leave him, he needed to apologize for being the best lover he could be, for not fulfilling his requirements.

"I'm so sorry, I know I'm a horrible person, and I don't blame you for leaving. I won't chase you, I won't send you any letters, I won't call. You obviously want a clean break…" he said softly, his voice breaking as he gestured to her luggage. She stepped forward, her mouth open to say something, her brows furrowed

"Lo-" He cut her off

"I get it Caroline, you're leaving me. But if you're going to do it, just fucking leave." He cursed, stalking off to the kitchen, slamming the door, before he retrieved himself a beer.
She stared at the kitchen door in confusion, glancing at her luggage, before she gasped. He thought she was leaving him? Caroline hugged herself just at the thought, it would to destroy her to leave the one thing that kept her planted on this very earth.
She hurried into the kitchen, trying to fix his thoughts on this horrible confusion.

"Love…"she said, his back to her.

"What, Caroline?" he spat, turning around slowly. "You know, I gave you everything! I gave you love, I gave you my devotion, I bought you whatever you wanted! I may have not been the happiest person to be around, but I gave you everything!" he yelled. She approached him slowly, bringing her hands up to his face.

"I'm not leaving you, my mother is sick, and she isn't going to make it…" she whispered, tears springing in her eyes. With that all of his anger melted away, melted away his fears and insecurities. But he didn't know what to say

"I'm…I'm so sorry love.." he said, abhorred at his own behavior.

"I would never leave you, ever. I chose you, over everyone, I chose you!" she said, her voice getting louder at the end of her statement. She pulled her closer, resting her forehead against his. "And don't you ever forget that Niklaus Mikaelson."
