Chapter 1: Dad's leaving…AGAIN
Carter's POV
I stared at the natural scenery of the Louisiana swamp lands as we speed by. My dad had to take me today because of stupid Chelsea, I couldn't get a ride from Donny. Sometimes I wish high school didn't exist. But it does and there's no way out of it(made clear by my father countless number of times). Today's gonna suck
Just then, a loud ringing broke me out of my thoughts. My dad opens a secret compartment under the dash board and slips on an earpiece.
"Mason," he says with authority, there's a long pause, "yes ma'am, Mason out."
It doesn't take long to figure out what's happening. He's leaving again. Great. Now I have some alone time. I always hate alone time.
"your leaving again," I ask, I already know the answer.
"I have to," he says apologetically "it's my job."
I sigh in frustration. I'm late for school , Chelsea makes me lose my ride, and now my dad's leaving. Great way to start the day right?
