Moonlight Meeting

Tomoyo walked down the patch of grass in the park. Her thoughts somewhere else. Thinking of another. Eriol. He was the love of her life. The one that Tomoyo wanted to be with. And for him to notice her. The wind blew around her hair, playing with it. She wrapped her jacket more tightly around her. The moon above in the sky seemed to stalk her, shadows escaping from beneath her. She sat down on a deserted swing, rocking back and forth slightly. She thought about the jet black-haired classmate who had captured her heart. She thought about the hug he gave her before the school day had ended. He merely meant it as a friendly hug, nothing more. Tomoyo was too shy to speak up and talk to him. He would never love her back as she did him. Never. A slight rustling came from above her. Tomoyo jumped from the swing and inched back, staring at the tree branch hovering over the swing set.

"Who goes there?" She called out. There was no reply.

Tomoyo could see a figure looming in the shadows of the tree. The figure leaped down and Tomoyo took another step back. Run! Her mind screamed, but her feet were implanted into the ground as she only hoped it was who she thought it was. The figure stepped out of the shadows, the moonlight shining is his face.

"Eriol," Tomoyo breathed in relief.

He played with a cherry blossom as he said, "Hello Tomoyo." He slowly walked towards the choir student. He began to sing softly.

Late at night when all the world,

Is sleeping,

I stay up and think of you.

Tomoyo joined him.

And I wish on a star,

That somewhere you are,

Thinking of me too.

Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight,

Till tomorrow,

I'll be holding you tight.

Cause there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be,

Then here in my room,

Dreaming about you and me.

Tomoyo shivered slightly. Eriol took off his coat and wrapped it around her, placing the flower in her hands. She looked up at him questioningly.

He only smiled and kissed her forehead. She smiled back and snuggled into his chest. Eriol embraced Tomoyo, as if to protect her from all harm. The two continued to sing, the wind carrying their melody across the park. Together, Tomoyo and Eriol head across the park where they made their way down the street, the moonlight guiding their way home.
