Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon, except the OC I made up. Has high hopes this story I've decided to re-do might actually might be reviewed. *Cross fingers* XD

Grimsley and I were practically inseparable, where ever one went the other would follow. The best of friends we were. . . Well that was true till that very day.

Both of our lives were ruined, not just his. That's nothing to worry about at this very minute, it' far off right now. For all I can do is tell you what lead up to it, to that very day.

"Grim, slow down! Not everyone is as fast as you, ya know," I yelled through gritted teeth. Grimsley, already leaving me behind, ran past the rows of the small, quaint houses of Nuvema town to the woods ahead.

Today was my birthday, I was finally fifteen like he was, and he supposedly had a special surprise for me. Only if I could make it there in one piece. Why does he have to constantly make me run around? It feels like my heart's going to burst," I thought.

"Hurry up slowpoke! If we don't get there in time it'll be all over!" he yelled over his shoulder as he made a left turn from the path into tall grass. Is he crazy? He doesn't even have a pokemon with him!

Taking a short break, I debated if I should go or stay. I could have fun while taking the chance of something bad happening or. . . . Ah, forget it. Breathing in the last gulp of air, I sprinted after him into the grass. Well. . . lets hope we don't get attacked.

Once I caught up to him, Grimsley was hunched over near a rather large bush under a tree for some odd reason. As I approached, noticing me, he raised up one hand for me to stop. Then whispered," Take it slow, crouch down a bit, don't scare her."

"What do you me- Oh I see. . ." Hiding under the large bush was a liepard, a mother of two. The two little cubs must have just barely been a day old or so for they could barely stand as they crawled over to her to suckle.

"They are so cute," I whispered crouching to Grim.

"Yeah they are, aren't they? So. . . does this make a good birthday present?"

"Yes! Thank you so much! Will she bite us? Ya know if I try to pet them? I don't want to upset her." I said, my voice barely audible.

"Don't worry, I knew her since she was a baby herself." With a light chuckle he petted the mother, causing her to purr, before gently picking up one of the baby purrloins.

Slowly, with caution, I petted the one that was curled up in his hands, aware of the sharp teeth the liepard had as she yawned.

"I want one, one day I'll have such a magnificent pokemon," Grimsley cooed, scratching under the little cub's chin.

Many moments passed before I realized the time, checking my newly bought Poketch, I bolted upright nearly knocking Grim over and scaring the poor mother.

"Geez, Grim I'm late for my own birthday party! Come one!" Leaving him behind I ran with all my might to my house, completely disregarding Grimsley's protests as he struggled to follow.

Passing the road to Grim's mansion of a home, the lab, and all the houses here I finally reached my house at the other end of town as the sun lied itself to sleep.

"Finally home," I whispered, panting, as I glanced over my shoulder, barely recognizing Grim's form as he approached. Maybe I should run farther, then maybe it'll be his turn to be out of breath.

Chuckling at the thought of him, I stepped inside with the embracing smell of chocolate cake with pecha berry sauce.
