"Taylor get down you gonna fall!" Kurt yelled from the top of the tree. He was about four branches above the little girl who has determination written all over her face.
"If you can do it I can do it too!" She yelled in a feisty tone.
"Have you already forgotten that you fell few days ago?" The white bandage was still visible on the back of her neck, and Kurt still remembers the moment Taylor fell from the top of the tree. The gash on the back of her neck bled so much that he was worried she will never be okay again.
"I'm not getting down! I want to climb it. What do you see from up there.. Do you see your school?"
"Taylor look I'm getting down" Kurt try to hurry down the branches from the other side of the tree. "You are not tall enough.." Of course Taylor was not planning on getting down until she reached the same branch that Kurt was sitting on before.
Kurt made it to the ground and looked up at the little girl. She was almost at the branch he was sitting before. As much as he tried to discourage her, Kurt was secretly proud that she wanted to do what he is doing, to know that Taylor looked up to him and to always know that she will be right by him no matter what adventure they undertook.
"See I did it!" Taylor's face was filled with pride and joy.
"Good job!" Kurt couldn't help but to smile.
"Now come down"
"Don't you want to come up again? We can be pirates in the middle of the ocean. It'll be fun!" her face was beaming.
"No Taylor it is late. We should go home" Kurt was trying to be responsible even though the thought of hanging on the trees pretending to be pirates with Taylor was always a fun activity.
"uhh soo boring..!" She exclaimed and began to climb her way back down.
It was evident that getting down was a little harder than getting up because she had to pull her leg down blindly. Two steps down her shoe slid off the branch slightly. Kurt gasped. Though, lucky for both of them Taylor's hands kept her on the branch.
"Are you okay?" Kurt's sounded worried.
"Yah" Though the little face had a hint of fear and Kurt, knowing her so well, was not fooled.
"Taylor, don't worry I'll catch you if you fall. I promise" He said with such a surety that her lips drew into a small smile.
"Okay" Her voice was small but Taylor always known that Kurt will be there if she ever needed her as surely as she will be there for him.
She let go of one of her hands to reach further down with her foot. Slowly but surely she managed to make it to the ground and Kurt finally let out a breath that he was holding for a while.
"Next time around you're banned from doing the things I'm doing" Kurt said examining Taylor's hands for bruises and broken nails.
"Why not. Didn't you see I made it to the same branch that you did." Pride was clear in her voice.
"and, I know you gonna catch me if I fall" Kurt knew her well enough to know that she will always get her way because she knew just the right words to convince him.
"That I will!" He stated as if it was a fact like his name or his date of birth.
"By the way.. Dad brought something super cool!"
"What" Taylor said eagerly.
"GI Joe movie! and whoever gets home first get the best seat to watch it" Kurt announced as he began to run towards his house knowing full well the little girl would follow him and also knowing full well he would give her the best seat no matter who made it home first.
