As was a usual day for them, the usual circle of friends that was the otaku Konata Izumi, the tsundere Kagami Hiiragi, the airhead twin Tsukasa Hiiragi, and the moe girl Miyuki Takara, sat, discussing as they would.
"Our family doesn't have a dog," explained Miyuki, "Because we fear it may end up messing up our house."
This next statement of which you are about to take notice of is extremely important in how they ended up in the position with which this tale concerns. It was said by Konata, and its terrifying contents were as follows:
"Why not just get a cat, Miyuki?"
This has little significance in and of itself, but listen to their conversation.
"A cat?" replied Kagami. "When was the last time you saw a cat in this side of anywhere? A dog, sure, Minami has one, but a cat?"
They had to think on this, however; why did they never see a cat? This was, in fact, the current and possibly continuing part of this conversation.
"I say we go on an adventure to find a cat then!" came the answer of Konata. "Let's go onto the streets, under the sewer, and through the concrete sky to find ourselves this furry beast!" It took a hit by Kagami to quiet Konata, as her anime-centered brain could not do that itself.
"Come on, there has to be a way to get our Miyuki a cat!" said Konata. "I shall not rest until we find her one!"
"If that were true in your classes, Konata, we would leave the cat wherever it would be found just to stop you." replied Kagami to a slightly put-out Konata.
