No Turning Back

Chapter 1 Is this the End...

It was a beautiful day in Fishermans Horizon, no; it was a beautiful day in the entire world. The worst evil the world had ever faced was finally defeated. Peace once again ruled the world.

It was here in FH at the docks that he was sitting. Fishing with his two best friends, Fujin and Rajin. Here he was thinking of what had happened to him in these last months. After Time Compression he had returned to Garden, trying to explain what had happened to him. He never expected a warm welcome, but he also didn't expected to been thrown in jail by Seed the moment he set foot at his old home. His trial was held at Balamb Garden, the place he knows she lives in. The place where he had hoped he would see her again, after all, he hadn't seen her since she had saved him in the Time Compressed world.

To his disappointment (but really, who had he been kidding?) Quistis wasn't at his trial, none of them were. None of the children he grew up with, the so called Orphanage gang. The only, slightly, friendly faces were those of his ex-girlfriend and his foster-mother. They stood up for him, stood by his side while they explained that they too were once possessed by Ultimecia. They knew how it felled to not be in control of your own body, your own actions. At the end of his trial he wasn't hold accounted for his action in the second Sorceress War. He however wasn't allowed to ever set foot in any Garden again. There were still too many people who hated him for what he did, even if he didn't do these things himself. He left the Garden and his loyal friends went with him when they left Balamb, searching for another place where they could live in peace. His only regret was that he had to leave the only one behind that he had ever loved, with his whole heart. He knew she wouldn't leave Garden, and he could never make her choose between him and her family at Garden. But still, it did hurt when he left Balamb, left her.

"O yeah, I have got a fish, ya know. It's a big one", Rajins shouting and jumping up and down brought Seifer back from his thoughts.

Fujin, seeing the look on Seifer's face could guess what he had been thinking about. It was after all the only thing he regretted from the last year. She looked at Rajin, whishing he would shut up. Of course he didn't stop and she saw Seifer throw his fishing rod away angrily.

"QUIET!"

Rajin, of course didn't listen however and continued jumping and yelling: "Who is the best? Ya know!" and he exclaimed proudly that: "I'm the only who got us diner for tonight!"

Seifer got more angrier with the second. Fujin tried to warn Rajin one more time, whispering to him, "Be quiet."

Rajin didn't slow down and Fujin did the first thing that came to her mind, she kicked Rajin in the water.

"Hyne, this is freezing cold! Ya know," he spluttered when he surfaced.

His quit girly scream made the three friends laugh for a long time. It also didn't help that when Rajin tried to climb on the dock, he fell again in the icy cold water.

The wind started to rise and Seifer looked up to the sky.

There was flying the place he once called home, his enemy and lastly his savior. It made him think of the good and the bad thing that had happened there. He tried to forget the bad things and remember only the good, the good that mostly revolved around her.

It made him smile, one of his rare smiles, when he thought off her and the promise he made when she saved him. 'Quis, please. It wasn't my fault, I didn't know what happened. Please give me a chance to make it up to you, to all of you. Let us gain back that piece what we have lost'.

The Garden flew out of his sight, and so did she. All he could do was hope, hoping he would see her again sometime soon. And to just remember the good times they had before it all came falling down.

'I promise you Quis, I'll do anything I can, just so we can be together again'.

They had made it, all six of them. Together they had defeated Ultimecia, the Sorceress from the future.

A few months after they had returned home, Balamb Garden had organized this (long awaited) party for the six chosen ones who had saved the world.

The Garden was beautifully decorated and it was a place full with happy people, but still one woman found it hard to look happy and smile. Of course she was glad they had saved the world, but the price she had to pay for it wasn't worth it. She had to fight against her lover several times and she had thought she had left him to die, back in Esthar. While she was glad he was still alive, she didn't know how she felt after she saved him. She knows that she still loves him, but with everything that has happened these last few months, she doesn't know if they have a future together, and that hurts.

Lost in her thoughts, she wandered through the ballroom, every once and a while smiling and waving at people she recognized (and she recognized most of them).

"What is this lovely lady doing here all by herself?" Irvine asked while giving her a glass of champagne.

"Thanks," she said accepting the glass. "I could ask you the same, where is Selphie?"

"She is filming the entire party," Irvine said, pointing with his glass to the corner where Selphie was filming Nida and Xu. He drank the rest of his champagne while taking Quistis right hand. "Come on, let's dance together."

Before Quistis could politely decline, Selphie pointed her camera on them. While Irvine was swinging wildly to the beat, Quistis was looking annoyed.

"Quisty, look in the camera!" Selphie shouted from across the ballroom.

"Selphie, don't point that thing on me"

"Ow! Quisty don't be so shy. We look good together, smile for the camera!"

Quistis was really not in the mood for this and pushed Irvine playfully away. She could hear Irvine whispering 'Girls' behind her and that made her snicker.

She saw Headmaster Cid and greeted him with a small bow, "Headmaster."

They were just talking about how they were doing when Edea showed up. Every time when she saw Edea her mind wandered back to him, of what he was doing and where he was. The last time she had seen him was when she saved him to get him out of Time Compression. She could hear his voice in her head when he promised all was going to be okay, but she had a hard time believing it. She was glad Seifer was a free man, but to know at the same time you can't be together is a horrible thing.

She doesn't remember much what happened after her meeting with Cid and Edea, but she found herself standing on one of the balcony's thinking about him. Of what they had and maybe still have, could have one day.

She looked outside, it was a beautiful day today, and saw that they were flying over Fishermans Horizon. She made herself a promise to herself and to him.

'We will recover what we have lost, I promise you, Seifer. There is no turning back for us now'.
