Prologue
Shiori watched her son with fondness; Neijia was only about three, and yet was playing and talking already.
Shiori was a goddess, the goddess of destiny, her lifemate was the god of love; however, even with his great heritage, Neijia showed no powers, and Shiori was getting worried, but he was only two, so he still had time.
However, if he still showed no signs, Shiori might have to make drastic choices, such as giving him her powers, in fear of the others persecuting him. When a god is born without powers, they are often sent to earth, and given lives there. Shiori knew what happened to the mothers of those children, and didn't want that happening to her and especially not to Neijia. Most of them tried everything to protect their children, one even tried to kill her daughter, Hinako. That was last year, and that same year, Hinako was sent to earth, and given a new name. Hinako was Shiori's niece, and a very beloved girl at that. Shiori had managed to protect Neijia for longer than Kiteara had been able to; the muse hadn't been able to save her poor daughter.
There was only one family that they sent the children to: the Hyuga family. In the old Celestial language, Hyug meant human. When they added the 'a' it became human-like. Basically, it was an offensive term, however, they did give them a powerful doujutsu, called Byakugan. It made up for their lack of anything else. The gods who decided this laughed when the first Hyugas became ninjas. And they were laughed harder when the ex-gods thanked them for helping them pass.
Shiori knew that Hyugas were a joke, and she did not want that to happen to the only son she had ever conceived.
Little did she know, that a year later, her sisters, the sisters of fate would take away her only son. She begged and begged for them to return Neijia, but he had already been given a new home, and a new life. Neijia knew nothing about his mother, or his heritage. There was nothing Shiori could do about it. She didn't even have the chance to transfer her powers to her only child.
Four years later, Shiori's brother lost his daughter, Hana. Hana had no powers as well, and was Hinako's half-sister, by their father; which also meant that they were both Neijia's cousins. The fates placed both Hinako and Hana in the Hyuga's main family.
Now, the fates have a cruel and twisted sense of humor, and they hated their sister, Shiori. So when they found out that Neijia had no powers, they jumped at the chance to humiliate Shiori, and put him in the branch family. Whilst in the branch family, he would have no power, and could do nothing… they had no idea that Neijia would surpass everyone's expectations; by becoming one of the greatest shinobi Konoha had seen in a while.
