Story title: If They Met Differently
Preface
I had this crazy idea of writing a fanfic about Cloud and his butt-kicking friends running 'round Manhattan City, New York, going through normal daily routines instead of runnin' 'round Midgar area, fighting off Kadaj and his bros or kicking Sephiroth's butt… I told a few friends about it and they seem enthusiastic as I am and I do hope other Final Fantasy fans out there are as well. Tell me what you think of this in the reviews.

Characters
Yuffie Kisaragi
Yuffie plays the leading lady of the story. She works in the sophisticated Antique café at 27th Street part-time. She needs money to help her father pay her education fees. Yuffie is a cheeky and pretty Japanese university girl who had migrated to the western world to further her studies. She stays in a modest townhouse at East Village in Downtown Manhattan with her father, who works at Fulton Fish market. She likes meddling into others' business. Yuffie is tired of her boring daily routine and yearns for adventure. Yuffie likes teasing Vincent; most of the time during boring work hours, she would kill some time doing that. Sometime later, she finds a homeless skinny Irish wolfhound with a tattoo 'XIII' inhumanly marked on its reddish-brown fur. The dog starts following her after she feeds it frequently. She then names the dog Nanaki.
Yuffie has enthusiastic interest in motorcycles. She goes gu-gu-ga-ga over Cloud's handsome bike, the 'Fenrir'.
Vincent Valentine
Vincent on the other hand, works in the same café as he needs money to settle his apartment rent and to bring food to the table. Vincent is a handsome, mysterious American with short jet-black hair; his fringe is long and covers part of his eyes. His eyes are mysteriously red, which entices most women...and some gay men he serves. He is the café's most handsome barista.
Cid Highwind
Cid is merely a common dirty, old mechanic. He frequently has Yuffie as his regular customer, fixing her darn old scooter – the Honda Jazz – whenever it fails. Cid curses a lot, like his typical old self in the final fantasy world.
Cloud Strife
He is a rather dashing blonde English man who arouses a mysterious impression. He has nice punkish hair, sticking up to the air effortlessly. According to him, he uses a lot of sculpturing mousse…and probably travelling around too much on his exotic motorcycle made his hair to shape like that. He regularly visits the café Yuffie works at, writing to finish his novel. Like most authors, he goes to cafés to write. He especially loves the sweet pastries and desserts, which is a reason for him to linger at that café. Other times, when he feels like taking the day off, he would bring his dependable laptop and surfs the free internet access the café provides. His black, exotic motorcycle, 'Fenrir', attracts a lot of attention. Yuffie especially loves his bike and frequently pleads for a ride or two. Cloud has a lot of admirers, particularly Tifa.
Marlene
She is Baret's cute adopted daughter. Cloud babysits her most of the time and often brings her together with him to the café. Marlene is a playful kid; she would always play with Yuffie at the café. She sometimes doddle on few pieces of paper Cloud gives to occupy her while he writes his novel. Because of her frequent appearance together with Cloud, she is often mistaken as Cloud's child or niece. She also has a favourite soft, stuff toy animal –a black cat with a red cape, wearing a small golden crown.
Tifa Lockhart
Tifa is a shy, slender, illustrious Japanese-American woman. She has feelings for Cloud and frequently makes an appearance in the café to just look at him. She passes time reading magazines provided in the café while stealing glances of Cloud whenever he is not noticing. She is a pretty famous bar hostess of the 'Seventh Heaven' located nearby the café. Men often crowd around her in the café, and she's often treated with free drinks. Cloud and Tifa had been close childhood friends, and she wonders if he remembers her…
