A/N: Never wrote Merry or Pippin before, but I've read a lot of them and I have a jist... My very very first LotR fic outside of Legolas... and I may stick him in here just for the heck of it. I'm not sure where this is going, but I *do* smell and adventure...

CH 1: Plotting, Planning and Generally Bad Stuff

Meridoc Brandybuck had been taking a walk through the forest when he came upon his good cousin and very good friend. Peregrin Took.
Pippin, as Peregrin was called, was jumping up and down ferociously and generally acting angrily. He jumped, then swore, then kicked a tree, then swore again - but this time for the pain in his furry hobbit foot.
"Pip!" Merry yelled, running up to the hobbit, "What on Earth are you doing?"
"Oh Merry!" Pippin exclaimed, "Sam is so mean to me. He said I was too little to go to the Wood Swamps with him and Frodo!"
"You aren't too little," Merry said, "They're just afraid that you will get hurt."
Pippin pouted. "I'm angry with them anyhow."
"That won't do," Merry muttered, "Don't be angry with them, they mean well..."
Pippin turned to go off. "Dosen't matter anyhow. Mother wanted me to go to the market for her. Even so, I could've gone to the Wood Swamps when I was finished!" He ended his statement with a bit of a whine.
"No," Merry said, shaking his head and grabbing his cousin by the wrist and twirling him back. "You can't go to market in a bad mood."
"Merry---" Pippin started but was shushed by a wave of Meridoc's hand.
"Now. Repeat after me..." Merry ordered, holding a serious face and placing one hand on each of the other hobbit's shoulders. Pippin did the same, hands on Merry's shoulders. "I..."
"I..." Pippin said.
"Am..."
"Am..."
"Cheese."
Pippin burst out laughing, "Cheese!?"
"Yes cheese," Merry said, "Now, c'mon say it. I..."
"I..."
"Am..."
"Am..."
"Cheese."
"Cheese." Pippin burst out laughing again.
They said the three words together and then Merry tilted his head to the side.
"Feel better?" Merry asked.
"Yeh."
"Not angry anymore?"
Pippin giggled. "No, not angry."
"You're sure?"
"Yeh, I'm sure."
"Good!" Merry dropped a grin and let his cousin go; Pippin did the same.
After Pippin grabbed up his brown suede satchel that he had thrown at the tree earlier on, he caught Merry smiling deviously at him.
"What?" Pippin asked, feeling an adventure coming on.
Merry linked arms with Pippin. "I'll go to market with you," he said, patting his own satchel - grey suede if you're curious -, "Then you and I can go down to the Wood Swamps if you'd like?"
"Yes!" Pippin grinned, "Could we?"
Merry nodded. "But to market first."

A/N: The "I Am Cheese" thing really happened in RL (real life)... me as Merry, my friend as Pippin; But, in RL, Pip was mad that her Mom wouldn't let her go downstairs with me during church and Pip was mad at his Mom :P
