Here lies Esther Dummond, 1980 – 2011
Daughter, sister, aunt. Torchwood "freedom fighter".
Jack had seen her, watched her grow, develop through good and bad over those past few months, those dreadful months when the miracle hit. To some she was no more than a child, a nobody, a "useless Esther", but he had seen her for who she really was – He had seen her shine when all hope had gone. It was her determination, her brilliance that her saw, her caring nature, her selflessness that he loved. To others she was no one, she was nobody, but Jack had seen her, he saw a Torchwood member, he saw hope.
With the miracle over al hope was lost with her tragic death and, with that, another piece of Jack died with her. Owen, Tosh, Ianto, Suzie and so many others, they were as much a part of him as he was and it hurt so much…
"In death we're all one. Life and death – Two sides of a coin, tossed by an unknown force (…) Whatever the outcome is life goes on and on…"
Goodbye "useless Esther", it was a pleasure knowing you. See you around someday…
