Marco sat on the soft, blue-green grass, staring up at the cloudless sky. The sun was shining brightly, glistening off the lake that was in front of him. "Marco! Hurry up!" A voice yelled from behind him. "Coming, mom!" He shouted back. He and the others had defeated the yeerks a few months ago. His mom was free. Nora and his dad divorced when his mom came back. After all, three's a crowd when your married. Unless your a very sick person.
Marco walked over to his mom and dad. They were joking around, laughing and talking like they had before the yeerks came. Before his mom was taken. Before his dad was a wreck. Before Elfangor.....
He shook his head, clearing away those thoughts. It was over, and it would be best if he just forgot. He sat down between his mom and dad, and grinned at them. "Marco, why on earth did you cut your hair? Now I can't braid it." His mom said, smiling. Marco laughed, even though it was a lame joke. He was happy, and nothing could destroy that. Everything was perfect. Then the lake blurred and began to fade...

Marco sat up quickly, kicking off his sheets and running into the bathroom. "It was just a dream." He mumbled, glancing in the mirror. He looked like he was about to cry. Sighing, he walked back to his room and laid down, pulling his blankets up to his chin. His eyes slowly closed.
And he dreamed.
