It reeks of spring here. Melting snow sinks into the thawing ground and it smells like seaweed all over. The romantic ones like to walk along the beach in sweaters with the frothing sea at their covered toes, dreaming of the warmth of summer. Romance is such a precious thing. I will not be here much longer, where dreams of romance are the only dreams kept alive. My sweater and my covered toes smell of seaweed just like the air and the stars that shine painlessly on the soft brown sand. If I am the wind, am I this cold, unfriendly seabreeze as well?

Venus shines brighter than any of them. That's his star.

I can see my glassy reflection in the window of the bus. It's cold, makes my cheek feel cold and wet with more than silhouettes of tears. Can't remember how long it's been since I stood next to him on that old pier, inhaled that slightly burnt scent he always carried with him. I wonder, wonder if he smells the same now as he always did. I'm searching for him, can't quite find him, but I think I may know where he is, and where he is scares me, for it is where he met her, and I don't want to remember her.

The number twenty-six bus stops at Deling Square. I'm not sure where I should look first, so I've decided to walk from here; the scentless city air on the way to the hotel might help to free me of the smell of the sea.

I can still see Venus from across the country.

He's having a drink in the typically-deserted bar downstairs, something he rarely did when I knew him. He hasn't seen me, perhaps doesn't recognize me, or doesn't wish to let me know he does; I am not brave enough to approach him, but I will have a drink seated next to him.

"Evening, Fusama. Can I buy you a drink?"

His smile is golden.

Just one of the many endings I've devised for "and she". Some of you may have read "and she (winter's skirts)", which I removed from Fanfiction.Net a day after I uploaded it. That ending wasn't something I wanted to keep, and neither is this. I might keep it up, however, to expand on or to provide basis for an alternate.
