The music echoes through darkness
I'm running, running
There; a flicker of movement,
Hair waving, looking so insignificant next to the gargantuan bulk
Of Vegnagun; the demon face lifting, lighting, unfolding
I throw myself before the gaping maw,
"Stop! That's enough!"
Finally I see you, blue eyes shadowed
Like your mind.
We crash together, the warmth of your arms enfolding me
Running footsteps; you turn to see the guards dropping to aim…
We both know now that we will die; or maybe you don't,
Confusion at seeing the pain in my eyes.
I stare into you, trying to tell you,
Managing a weak smile to show my love, so insignificant.
Suddenly, gunfire; you are torn away from me
Falling down, down, to the cold floor.
I stare at you, one arm outstretched,
Your face is shadowed, but still you try to reach me
I try to speak, to tell you "I love you"
But only a diamond tear splashes to the ground.
I fade into the abyss…
But you did not follow.
