My mouth had gotten me into trouble once again and this time Madison was the one who nearly paid for it. That thought went through Nick's mind as he watched Madison leave the shop with the guy she had met earlier that day.
He had called her shy and she had gone out to prove him wrong only to wind up getting turned into stone. He had managed to destroy the monster that had done it and Madison had accepted his apology. He never thought before he acted or said anything and never thought of the consequences.
But now he was a Red Ranger and he had to learn it wasn't just about what he wanted any more, he had his teammates to consider. He had a chance for a brand new start and he couldn't miss that up.

After his parents left for their job overseas he had moved in with his grandparents but he had rebelled and done a little marijuana, that thought still shamed him, they had finally sent him to live with his uncle Clark, who helped him stop doing drugs but his rebellion continued.
Eventually he realized he had to straighten out his life and had come to Briarwood to be with his sister Cindy, who had always given him good advice, who had been with him through thick and thin. He had a chance for a fresh start and he had seized the first part of it by becoming the Red Ranger.

He remembered Madison coming to talk to him under the tree trying to get him to stay, her awkward smile and her beautiful voice, the first person who had reached out to him, and she didn't even know him that well.
But from what he had learned that was who Madison was, sweet, sensitive, and caring. Why had he called her shy? Of all people she had never have to endure doubt or insults. All she had done was she had been doing her usual thing with her video camera.
He liked it here in Briarwood and he wanted to help drive the forces of evil away, he knew he liked Madison and he knew now he had feelings for her. But he couldn't tell her. Why would she want someone like him?
Nick took one last look outside the door and he could see Madison and whatever his name was sitting under the same tree where they had talked, and wished that could be him.
