Go, Be At Peace

"Release us," the ghost said to Aragorn

"Don't do it, laddie. They come in pretty handy, despite the fact that they are dead," Gimli protested as he threw a look to the future king of men.

The ghost snarled and him and growled," You gave us your word. Now, release us."

Aragorn looked uncertain for a while and then he made his decision," I release you from your oath. Go, be in peace."

The ghost kinda smiled and inhaled air, as if breathing their freedom at last.

Everyone waited for them to disappear.

But nothing happened.

"What's going on? Why aren't we at peace yet, heir of Elendil?" the ghost asked fiercely.

Aragorn rolled his eyes and replied with an annoyed tone," How was I supposed to know?"

The ghost hissed at him and Aragorn took an involuntary step backwards," I'll try again."

"Go, be at peace. You are released from your oath."

Nothing. Not one single soul was released. All of them stood there, all empty sockets glared at Aragorn.

"Maybe you should trying other wordings, Estel," came the melodic voice of Legolas.

Aragorn nodded nervously.

"Be gone now."

"I release you now."

"Abracadabra, be gone!"

It was night...

"Go, ghosts, go!"

Everyone was tired at listening to Aragorn trying to release the ghost. Gimli was asleep on the ground. Gandalf chuckled at the attempts but made no effort to help.

And Legolas had a small smile on his face. He found the situation a little amusing for he had never been in that situation before. Nor had he seen a ghost, let alone a million of them. And his smile annoyed Aragorn further.

"I am very tired. Can't we do this tomorrow?" Aragorn whined as he sat down on the ground. "I mean you have waited this long, another day won't be any difference to you, will it?"

The ghost growled and glared at him All of them advanced towards him with a menacing glare.

"Apparently it will," Aragorn said to himself and he got up.

"Release us," the ghosts chanted, "Release us."

Aragorn chuckled nervously and began to step back from his position very slowly. His hands in front of him as if trying to push the ghost backwards.

Legolas to a step to his friend's side, with his bow in his hand.

"I mean, surely we can discuss this."

"Release us now!"

"How about I compensate you for another night in Gondor?" Aragorn began slowly.

The ghosts stopped in their tracks and Aragorn took it as his cue to continue.

As quick as he could, he grabbed Legolas by his arms and pushed him in front of the ghosts.

"Here, take Legolas. He should be enough," Aragorn sped up on his speech and he made a run for it towards the citadel followed by Gimli (who was already awaken) and Gandalf.

Legolas was too stunned to say anything at first, but when he regained his composure he yelled," ARAGORN!"

And he too made a run for the citadel, leaving the ghosts behind them.

The End

This is a stupid fic, just a small thought after watching ROTK. Anyways, as always, I'd appreciate a review.

Thank you. Hope you enjoyed this.
