Summary: "Well, you see, today's the 14th day of the second month of the year, and in Hourai, it is Valentine's Day. It is a very special day where people show their love for the people they care for by giving them gifts like flowers, sweets, and chocolates..."

Taiki paused at the door and knocked nervously, balancing the tray properly on his other hand.

"Come in."

On hearing that, he pushed the door open gently and made his way into the room.

"Gyousou, am I disturbing you?"

The monarch put his work down on the table.

"Not at all. What's the matter, Kouri?" He asked, voice laced with genuine concern.

"Well, you see, today's the 14th day of the second month of the year, and in Hourai, it is Valentine's Day. It is a very special day where people show their love for the people they care for by giving them gifts like flowers, sweets, and chocolates..."

"What are 'chocolates'?" His master asked.

"It is a type of food made from the cocoa plant. It is brown looking, and tastes sweet."

Taiou raised an eyebrow.

"Brown and sweet?"

Taiki nodded.

"I supposed it is something similar to red bean paste then."

The young kirin nodded again.

"Is that why you are holding a plate of red bean paste in your hands?"

With a master like this, who need words?

Taiki handed over the plate which had the aforementioned paste arranged into weird shapes. Well, he did try, but a heart shape was rather trying to make.

Taiou took one and put it into his mouth before sighing.

"What's the matter? Is something wrong?"

He shook his head.

"It tastes awful?"

"Do you miss home?" Taiou asked after swallowing.

Taiki stood in shock, at lost on how to answer the question.

"My home is here."

Taiou shook his head.

"You know what I mean. Do you miss Hourai?" He said.

"No..."

"Kouri." Taiou insisted.

"I may think of Hourai once in a while, about how my life was before I met you, but for me, home is always by your side. Hourai is but a thing of the past now. I do not want to go anywhere else that do not have Gyousou."

"I'm glad to hear that."

Silence filled the room for a short moment before someone spoke up.

"I... I like red bean paste better than chocolate," Taiki said softly.

Taiou smiled and drew him in for a hug.

"And I think I like Valentine's Day, be it red bean paste or chocolate."

End

A/N: I don't think I can eat red bean paste alone without anything else. It's way too sweet for me.
