"Those do not look appetizing in the least, Amanda. I do not want one." Sorin furrowed his eyebrows and frowned at his little sister, who chewed away happily at her favorite candy. They were spread out in the main room of their family's quarters, and Sorin was helping Amanda with her assignments. She had trouble paying attention more than anything, but Amanda was intelligent.
"Whatever- you're just picky. Jelly bears are the best." The seven-year-old popped another bear into her mouth. After swallowing, a look of mischievousness spread across her young face. "Sory, have you ever had a jelly bear before?" Her brother quirked an eyebrow.
"No, and you should be focusing on this- "
"Can't knock it 'til you try it." She interrupted him, and tried to force a jelly bear into his mouth. Sorin, with his quick reflexes, dodged her assault, and glared at her.
"I do not want one."
"You're going to have one." Amanda ordered, narrowing her eyes at him and standing. Sorin sat up and crossed his arms.
"No. I am not." He reiterated his stance on the matter firmly. Amanda grinned evilly, and lunged at him with the bag of bears in hand. Sorin's eyes widened a little before he leaned to the side. Amanda fell.
"Oof," She mumbled into the floor on impact. Sorin stood and began backing toward the entrance to the quarters to escape his crazy little sister. Amanda bounced back up and ran at him. Sorin finally left the quarters and walked quickly down the hall, on a fast track to Yorn's family's quarters. Hopefully his friend would be able to shelter him from the madness going on in his own... a flurry of quick, frequent footsteps erupted behind him, and he glanced over his shoulder to see Amanda running down the hallway toward him.
"I do not want any jelly bears, Amanda!" He repeated, bolting down the hallway. He was just over seven years older than his sister and had longer legs, but she was very small and fast. Yorn's place was just around the corner-
Sorin slammed into a gold uniform and toppled backward. Amanda, who had been screaming a constant war cry, tripped over her brother as she rounded the corner and flailed before she fell as well. Her elbow was the first to hit Sorin, who acted as a pillow to her fall. Her elbow just so happened to land below his belt...
Sorin yelled out in pain, unceremoniously shoving her off of him and clutching his under-parts with both hands, wheezing and, after a moment, swearing in a strange mix of Swahili and Vulcan. His eyes watered.
"What the h- Sorin? 'Manda?" Captain James T. Kirk crouched down and looked over the boy writhing on the floor, concerned. "'Manda, what's wrong with your brother?"
Amanda had burst into tears and sobbed out an explanation that took a while to decipher. "Sorin, he- no jelly bears- and running and running- and boom!- and then my elbow hit his- um- !" She blubbered.
Jim grimaced and looked down at the fourteen-year-old, who was still clutching his privates and swearing unintelligibly under his breath. "Well, I think we better go to medbay- just to be safe." He didn't ask Sorin to stand, but lifted him up and threw him over his shoulder. Sorin 'oomf'ed a little and groaned but mostly just kept swearing. Jim smiled encouragingly at Amanda, who was still teary-eyes.
"Do Mama and Baba have to know? It was an accident..."
"Eh. If worst comes to worst, then we'll have to," Jim replied solemnly, before smiling. "But I don't see why it would come to that. You're safe, 'Manda." The little girl clutched his pant leg and sniffled as they walked.
"Thanks, Uncle Jim."
"No prob, angel. Can't say for sure if Sorin won't say anything, though... your brother is a lot like your Dad with that whole 'telling the truth' thing..."
