Wishes on a Star
Henry frowns at his mother as he munches on a muffin. They both know that she's aware of his intent gaze. He's been staring for the past five minutes. She sighs, as he knew she should, and turns to face him. Her raised eyebrow is all the encouragement that he needs.
His smile widens. "It's cool, isn't it?"
She focuses her attention on him. "What is?"
He leans forward. "The fairy tales; it's cool that they're more than that and we're a part of it!"
She shrugs nonchalantly. Her expression, though not bored, hints that she'd rather he be doing his homework. Henry pretends that he doesn't notice her staring at it.
"Is that all?"
He frowns. "You're not excited,"
She suppresses her incredulous expression. "To be honest, Henry, there's nothing to be excited about. This stuff is dangerous. It's not like the stories at all,"
Henry brightens. "There're lots to be excited about. Do you know how many kids wish they could be in a fairy tale?"
Emma sits down next to him. "I do. Kids everywhere want to have a perfect life with no troubles and peace but these people here are still waiting for their happily ever after. I doubt this is what those kids meant when they made those wishes,"
She pats his shoulder comfortingly. His disappointed expression spears her heart but she refuses to lie to him. The frying pan sizzles loudly and she hopes off of the chair.
He shakes his head. "Emma?"
She frowns; juggling with the pan and various kitchen utensils. "Yes, Henry?"
"This is what I spent my wishes on a star on,"
Author's Note: Yes, I know… This isn't the best I can offer and this isn't the best thing ever written. I'm no good with the happy-happy and 'fluffy' stuff. I'm much better at killing people off! Oh, that reminds me. I have a question for you all that is completely unrelated. The question has been annoying me and is why I couldn't do better with this story and a few others… Why are Chinese translators so bad? I mean, I've found Fairy from Wonderful which came from Celestial Maiden Flying Outside of the Sky and Bride with White Hair coming from The White-Haired Demoness. I can't make sense of that! Anyway, thank you for reading. I hope you've enjoyed this piece. I apologise if you're unsatisfied.
