The sun shone through the cracks in the blinds too early for Ben Rafter to comprehend- but he crawled out of bed and drew them closed, determined not to wake Melissa before he deemed the time right. The brunette beauty asleep in the double bed was even more gorgeous in the morning light than he could ever imagine- despite the fact that she protested about her hair almost every morning. In his eyes, she was perfect.

He had thought she was perfect since the first day they met- even when she was still in her work clothes and he was in a sixty year old Greek man's clothes. He had never seen anyone so beautiful- every time she caught his eye his heart thumped, threatening to break out of his chest.

And he was horrified to find out that she had never had a proper Christmas. Not since she was a child- the turkey, the Christmas crackers or the family. He was very family orientated, and his plan was to give her the best Christmas possible. Even though Melissa had known Ben a little under a year, his family already considered her a part of the family, and would officially welcome her in any time. So he had organised it with his mother to have a few extra potatoes with the roast, a few extra vegetables in the pot.

Padding downstairs, he opened the fridge to retrieve the tiny Christmas pudding he had bought, especially for her breakfast. Not the healthiest, he would admit, but Ben Rafter was a hopeless romantic, and didn't care. He located the Christmas hats (in the Calamari Castle- what the house he and Carbo shared had become to be known- Christmas wasn't Christmas without reindeer antlers or Christmas hats), and placed a present on the tray. A glass of orange juice completed the tray, and he carried it up the stairs without fail.

Melissa was sitting up sleepily in the bed, her face breaking into a smile as Ben made his appearance. "Hello", she beamed, stifling a yawn.

Yep. She had him at hello, every single time.
