Elena sighed, leaning against the brick wall outside the bar. It was always like this, now…she'd started to feel like they were no longer the Turks they used to be. Once Sephiroth was defeated…it left them nothing but paperwork, burnt out shells of their days of being Turks, mere an honorary title for Shinra employees like them. What was needed of their skills now was for one of them to act as Rufus' bodyguards now and then. It was…depressing. Elena had never really thought about it. Even now, she shifted uncomfortably, pushing short blond hair behind her ear, breathing in the smoke from her cigarette.

The thought of…being useless.

The feeling of being useless was one none of them was used to. Their days as Turks were so filled with action, with shit hitting the fan that this calm they had was almost unnatural. Rude spent the time completing paperwork, Elena used it to relax and Reno…well, Reno hit the bars like he always did, just that now it was more often than never. And for some reason he always asked Elena to go with him, even though she didn't drink much, or dance – charming her with that roguish smile that made her heart thump under her Turk uniform. And once they were there – he'd go in, flirt with girls, maybe leaving with one, and drink like a fish. Leaving Elena to fend for herself.

Honestly, she didn't see the point of babysitting him like that…he was as immature as a four-year old kid, sometimes.

Elena sighed, and stood up, snubbing out her cigarette. Somehow Reno spotted her, maybe because of her bright blonde halo of hair – but he stumbled over anyway, draping an arm over her shoulders. The cold night air didn't seem to be doing anything to make him sober.

"Hey, Laney," he slurred, the smell of bourbon on his breath.

Elena flinched. "Leave me alone, Reno."

"Whhaat's the matter?" Still oblivious.

"Look, Reno, I'm tired of you dragging me out, you getting impossibly drunk and - " she paused slightly. "You going off with other girls." Her voice was quiet as she slipped his arm off her. "I'm tired."

She made to walk off when Reno grabbed her arm, not too gently either, and pressed his mouth to hers in a kiss, his rough lips hard. The kiss left Elena with a shock of color in her cheeks, and she allowed Reno to embrace her, taking in his warmth quietly.

"Idiot." She whispered, hiding her face in his shoulder in an unusually feminine gesture.

"Takes one to know one." Reno grinned.
