Rating: Rated T.

It's a lie that you told yourself as a child. Fluffy will come back, he always does. But somehow that time was different, and you knew it. It was a year or so until it finally donned on you: Fluffy didn't come back. And he never will.

She was perfect, you know, in that clumsy-but-adorable way. She filled your once lonely nights with fun and laughter and warm feelings. Stupid you. You didn't realize just what those warm feelings were until it was way too late.

She came to you with the horrible news late one summer, the last summer you ever got to spend with her. Her dad had bagged a really fancy, important job as a head attorney in California. She said it paid well; that's why her dad was moving them.

You stood there, completely dumbfounded. Your best friend was moving away and there was nothing you could do to stop it. Nothing. You swallowed the lump in your throat and held back the tears until she walked away.

You watched her perfect hips sway as she unsurely made her way back down the road to her house. Her chin resting upon her chest, her hands shoved in her jeans pocket, her feet seemed to drag the ground as she walked away from you.

The next day, as you lay in your bed underneath the covers, your phone rang to signal an incoming text. Somehow, you knew who it was without even looking.

"Olivia…get out here now, please? I'm leaving…L" the text read when you finally decided to open it.

"I'm coming, Alex." you sent back, and got out of bed. Today will be the day you let her go. You know that's a lie you're going to tell yourself in the near future when she isn't there to hug or talk to anymore.
